I despise Tlaib and completely disagree with her position on Israel, but we either have free speech in this country or we don’t. The First Amendment was written to protect controversial and inflammatory speech. I’d have voted against the measure myself unless I knew of some real crime she’d committed, not just running her mouth.
She lead a riot in the capitol rotunda.
I totally agree with your statement. If there was some lesser position other than censure—then that could be voted upon. Something along the lines with the Congress as a whole disagrees with the statements by Congress-person So and So for the reasons X, Y and Z. Not a censure, but a rebuke.
That action focuses light on the critter’s statement for rebuke. It is more of a sense of the House...what would censure do anyway? Same as a rebuke. But it might be easier to rebuke a statement versus censure.
“I despise Tlaib and completely disagree with her position on Israel, but we either have free speech in this country or we don’t”
This isn’t a first amendment issue at all, censure is not expulsion or punishment, it is simply a formal statement of disagreement. It is responding to speech with speech.
I think MTG is generally an embarrassment and anchor on conservatives, but her resolution is fine. You can read it here:

Being as ugly as she is (inside and out) should count as a crime.
