Ron’s Biggest Backer: ‘Trump is Too Strong… An Ass Kicker; DeSantis is A User’
The National Pulse ^ | November 8, 2023

Robert Bigelow – who gave Florida Governor Ron DeSantis a whopping $20m and never even so much as received a phone call of thanks – has told the Financial Times that President Donald J. Trump “would probably be the strongest commander, with the most experience… that’s only one guy.”

Bigelow had warned the DeSantis team as early as three months ago that he would be taking his support elsewhere if the campaign issues were not resolved. Now, it appears he is ready to pull the trigger on that pledge.

“Who would you want as a commander? I’d want somebody that would be a hell of an ass kicker if he needed to be,” Bigelow told the FT over a four hour conversation. “On the face of it, you lean toward Trump.”

“I think Trump is too strong,” he continued, “I think Trump has the momentum, the inertia, to beat [DeSantis],” he added, referring to the Governor of Florida as “dinner” and the 45th President as a “bull.”

And the hotel tycoon gave a fascinating insight into the way DeSantis treats his supporters: “Bigelow said he expected the governor to contact him. But it was DeSantis’s wife Casey who called, two weeks later.”

“Not having him bothering to call me for an explanation taught me that he’s more of a user of people, actually, and that I didn’t matter enough for him to pick up the phone,” Bigelow said.

The Bigelow Aerospace founder – the single largest donor to DeSantis to date – is not alone in abandoning hope in the Florida Governor. Two previously strong supporters – Keith Rabois and Jacob Helberg – defected to Nikki Haley’s campaign last month.

republicans, especially here on FR, do nothing but destroy other republicans, and then wonder why we almost never win elections that matter.

I guess Trump set the example though, still bashing DeSantis at every opportunity while democrats keep winning elections.

This article is about a major DeSantis donor bashing DeSantis.

Robert Bigelow -- who gave Florida Governor Ron DeSantis a whopping $20m and never even so much as received a phone call of thanks ...

What he's telling you is that DeSantis is a tone-deaf ingrate who is lacking even the most basic interpersonal skills.

So democrats keep winning elections because Trump “bashes DeSantis at every opportunity”? That’s the most asinine comment of heard in a long time. Try to explain your reasoning, if you can.

I love these rich people who make useless lateral moves. They both deserve to go broke, quickly.🤣

I guess Trump set the example though, still bashing DeSantis at every opportunity while democrats keep winning elections.

******************

The example was set in 2016 when a bunch of so called Republican leaders blew off the Republican Convention because they had other priorities, which was to sabotage the 2016 election in favor of Hillary Clinton.

Here are some names

G W Bush 43rd President
Mitt Romney Republican nominee in 2012
John McCain Republican nominee in 2008
Jeb Bush Republican governor of Florida
John Kasich Republican governor of Ohio
Ben Sasse Republican Senator of Nebraska

As far as DeSantis getting bashed, its a primary that he willingly entered and if he’s ever the Republican nominee for President, the democrats will do much worse than the “kid glove” criticism he’s receiving from Trump.

I can totally see this. Look at how he's run his campaign pitting groups of Republicans against one another for primary votes rather than selling a vision for Americans. He's running an old, tired campaign.

His overblown efforts in FL were designed to make him look alpha on a stage next to Trump. DeSantis is phony. It's amusing that Casey called this guy, not Ron, because it seems like Casey is driving much of this campaign & probably the governor's policies. We had a "twofer" with the Clintons, I'll pass on the GOP version.

There you go....

Trying to gaslight, or mis-represent or lie to FR by not saying anything about how you have a history of attacking Trump...

because you’re a desantis supporter and want to appear as some kind of higher ground poster, in hopes of gaining desanctimonious support

Being a “republican” means nothing if you act like a democrat. “Winning” by embracing rinos is not winning at all.
