Selling Ukraine out? Anyone remember this?

Ukraine abstained in the anti-Israel resolution that passed the UN General Assembly yesterday 120-14 with 45 abstentions...

They wouldn’t even help us on a small thing like that, even though it cost them nothing.

Why are we helping out Putin? Because some people see him as a saint?

The political Right in this country is now trending towards authoritarianism and dictatorship.

“we have no interests whatsoever in Ukraine.”

That would be “ us”, the hoi polloi. The politicians launder OUR tax money in Ukraine to line their own pockets. And they’re the ones making the decisions. They have interests.

Ukraine had nuclear weapons, and Clinton talked them into giving them up in exchange for a pledge that the U.S. would support Ukraine. That didn’t happen in 2014, when Obama was running the show.

Heartbreaking, on many levels. The people there are dealing with corruption at the federal, state and local levels. (I understand that many other places do, too. But I have a special place in my heart for Maui.)

The political Right in this country is now trending towards authoritarianism and dictatorship.

You forgot the sarcasm tag.

The political right is the party defending free speech.

The political right is the party defending the right to keep and bear arms, and to defend yourself.

The political right is the party fighting anti-semitism.

The political right is the party fighting racism. (The left is embracing racism against white people).

I had read extensively about those events in the collapse of the USSR at the time. I don’t think any of that was a mystery.

The US has not declared war. It doesn’t have a congressionally passed “letter of authorization” (reprisal?). There is no treaty. They aren’t part of public law as a major ally.

Do one of those things through Congress, and we’ll at least be able to discuss this. In the meantime, it isn’t constitutional to engage in an ongoing war without authorization.

You have jumped to an erroneous conclusion.......... America is not at war in Ukraine. Your recitation is pointless

America is at war with Iran in Syria and Iraq. Iranian surrogates have Americans under pretty much constant attack. There are currently I believe at least three carrier groups staged to attack should it become necessary

Ridiculous!

Sending all kinds of armaments, intel, and advisors IS being engaged in war.

It isn’t healthy for the intelligent among us to go along with word games.

xzins is more right than wrong. The actions of the US and our puppet regimes in Europe make us co-belligerents with Ukraine, and although the Russians are smart not to attack supply lines they have every right to do so.

Throughout history, combatants have attacked supply lines of any participant as part of their military strategy.
Ask Patton: resupply happens or the army grinds to a halt.

“...make us co-belligerents with Ukraine”

Just HOW IN THE F! are we “co-belligerents” with Ukraine -defending against an INVASION-FOR-CONQUEST by Russia?

Were we “co-belligerents” in WWII defending against invasions-for-conquest by Imperial Japan and NAZI Germany?

Were we “co-belligerents” in Korea defending against invasion-for-conquest by communist North Korea?

Were we “co-belligerents” in South Vietnam defending against invasion-for-conquest by communist North Vietnam?

etc. etc.

These nations were at peace before they were attacked invaded, and in the case of South Vietnam, Lebanon, Chechnya, Georgia, etc. -conquered by the attacker.

Defending victims of imperialist, fascist and communist invasions-for-conquest is not belligerent! It is morality.

How long before you declare the US “co-belligerent” with Israel defending against Islamist terror attacks?

You have a grotesque sense of morality -which ensures continued invasions-of-conquest across the globe.

The detente gained at the end of WWII is forfeit due in most part to a large number of uneducated, amoral imbeciles residing in the West!

You over look the salient point.

There is no one to directly attack us. Russia certainly can’t. Iran is a coward and won’t
