A friend of mine was in Alaska....There were checks from the government piled up in every home. Every home also had a new jeep and snow vehicles.
Used to be when a tribal guy got a free new boat and outboard, that when he ran out of gas, he’s leave it and go get another free boat and outboard.
That was not what I saw in Alaska when I went on a cruise up there. I saw towns where people are living in houses that appear in need of serious repair. Alaska, overall, appeared to be economically disadvantaged. We visited an island where the Native Americans had decided to attract tourists in order to bring in more money to improve their lives. We stopped at other towns, as well. They all had a run-down look to them.
