Representative Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said on this week’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures” that Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) might have the “same problem” as Rep. George Santos (R-NY), who is facing a resolution to be expelled from Congress after the evidence uncovered in the Ethics Committee’s investigation.
Discussing the government potentially shutting down, anchor Maria Bartiromo asked, “How has your life changed now with the new Speaker? Do you think you are going to get the appropriations bills done with this new two-ladder approach Mike Johnson has come up with?”

Hey McCarthy, are you still beating your wife, Or in your case frank luntz?
McCarthy became Speaker bc of his fundraising, nothing more, and nothing less (and despite his inability to speak the English language).
In order to stay relevant, he needs to keep up the dollar flow, so he’s going to use every opportunity to pretend he still matters.

I concur that Mike Johnson is an improvement over McCarthy. That being said, Matt Gaetz has demonstrated that it’s quite easy to be a bomb thrower. It’s an entirely different thing to throw yourself into the hard work of legislating and winning over support for your positions.
Gaetz booted McCarthy, but had no backup plan on what to do next. Creating this ongoing clown show could very well cost the GOP the House majority in 2024. Gaetz would probably be more comfortable as a member of the minority, as he could fire his verbal missiles in front of the tiny C-Span audience, all the while being powerless to bring about any meaningful changes.
For all the new Matt Gaetz fan club members on FR, please recall that when it was time to get behind a candidate in the 2016 GOP primaries, Gaetz enthusiastically endorsed that staunch conservative - Jeb Bush!
Bottom line - Gaetz remains under an Ethics investigation in the House, and was miffed that McCarthy refused to intervene and set it aside. Not my kind of leader.

Some people seem determined to have a democrat Speaker even before the 2024 elections.
