A judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by a leader of one of New Hampshire's teachers' unions to stop public dollars from being spent to fund private schools through the Education Freedom Account program, saying she has not shown that it violates the state constitution.
The lawsuit was filed in Merrimack County Superior Court last year. It sought an injunction to stop the voucher-like program.
Deb Howes, president of the American Federation of Teachers New Hampshire, had said the program runs afoul of the constitution because money from the state's education trust fund is specifically set aside for public education and cannot be used for private purposes.
The state had moved to dismiss the case, arguing that Howes failed to make a claim that the program was illegal or unconstitutional.
A judge ruled Monday that Howes failed to allege facts supporting her claims. The judge also ruled that Howes' challenge to the state's use of education trust fund money to fund the program was moot in light of recent amendments to the education trust fund statute...
The New Hampshire program is open to any private school, including religious schools. The voucher-like program provides families with the same amount the state pays per pupil to public school districts — about $4,500 — to pay for private school tuition or home school expenses.

I sent THREE kids to a private Christian High School for about the same amount.
Unions exist primarily to build the union, not to do the jobs the union members are supposed to be doing. Teachers’ unions are not so much about teaching as they are about doing less for more, and providing funding for democrats and the left. An old truisms is, “Don’t crap where you eat”, and the teachers’ unions have certainly done that.

Problem is, currently your tax dollars pay the $19,400. And you also pay 100% of their school costs.
I just asked a guy in my office. Bishop Gurtin in Nashua is about $15K/year. All his children went there
St Christopher’s(elementary/middle school)in Nashua costs about $5K/year according to the guy next to me. His daughter goes there.
His son is enrolled in the Academy of Science and Design in Nashua. It is a public Charter middle/high school that any NH resident can go to for free. However, your child has to pass a test to get in. It is rated the top public high school in the state of NH.
He lives in Milford, NH. He and his wife did not want their children going to Milford schools anymore. It has become extremely woke. They let trans boys use the girls bathrooms. They also have a group of kids who pretend to be CATS. They sit around the lunch room licking their hands(like Paws). They even have a LITTER BOX in the bathroom for them to use.
This is direct information from the son of another guy in my office.
It's a start, but most public schools "cost" closer to 20k per student and it is that amount that the student should get. Until we can achieve total reform, lower property taxes and the cost of schools, which should be much less.

As for my tax dollars, I have paid well over $100,000 just in the educational part of my local and state property taxes since buying a home in this state more than 40 years ago.
And I’m STILL paying.
This country’s teachers’ unions don’t even try to hide the fact that they thoroughly Maoist.
They ALWAYS try lawfare. We need protections against activist judges. Thank God for the good ones.
