WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden turns 81 on Monday, a milestone likely to draw attention to his status as the oldest person to ever occupy the Oval Office, with opinion polls showing Americans worried he is too old for the post he is seeking reelection to.

Biden has addressed those who worry that he is too old for the rigors of the White House with humor and an attempt to convince voters that his age and experience over a half-century in public life is an asset in tackling America's problems.

"I know I'm 198 years old," Biden joked back in June.

If re-elected, Biden would be 86 by the end of his second term in office. Republican Ronald Reagan, who had the prior record as oldest U.S. president, ended his second four-year term at age 77 in 1989.

Trump, the frontrunner for the Republican nomination to challenge Biden in the 2024 election, is 77.

In a mid-September Reuters/Ipsos poll, voters expressed concern over Biden’s age and his fitness for office. Seventy-seven percent of respondents, including 65% of Democrats, said Biden is too old to be president, while just 39% said Biden was mentally sharp enough for the presidency.

By comparison, 56% of poll respondents said Trump is too old for the office, while 54% said he was mentally sharp enough…

That Biden is too old is common knowledge, but Trump is not too much younger!
I, personally, think that both should retire from politics.

Age is just a number. Don't let the dems get you all wrapped around the axle about his age.

It's not his age - it's his mental acuity

Trump has plenty - Biden has none.

Seen some people in their 50s that look like shriveled up fossils, and others are basically in their absolute prime at that same age. As you indicate, age is relative.

The clown who wrote this article, sure took a circuitous route to write an anti-Donald Trump screed.

My parents had a baby picture of me with that look on my face.

My 96 year old father, as recently as a year ago, could run rings around Brandon both physically and cognitively.

Unfortunately, my father has been on a slight, gradual decline since last year. Yet, he is still mentally and physically superior to Brandon. At 96.

It’s incredible that we are witnessing Brandon’s RAPID decline in real time, yet the d’Rats refuse to acknowledge it.

It’s not about age. I’m sure, if you thought about it, could acknowledge people your age who have AGED way more than you.

How many thought back in 2016 that Hillary would be dead by now?

Don’t worry Jo Jo. We’re not getting rid of you because you’re 81. We’re getting rid of you because you’re the worst friggin president this country has ever seen. And a lowlife crook too.
