“chinese fire drill” comes to mind. Maybe they were celebrating losing that sub in their own sub trap a couple weeks ago?
Gordon Chang has been predicting nothing but doom and gloom for China for at least 25 years. I’d be careful who I trusted as a source. Just look at his track record and his past predictions about China.
Been true for a long time.
Fostering a policy that led to massive quantities of abortions and the persecution and suffering of millions is a "good act"?
I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one.
Read Chinese history. Thousands of years of civil war surrounded by 300 of stability. Then the financial side falls dramatically the purges will follow until some decides they don’t want to wait to be purged. That and you will also have province infighting. Political first, then economical then military will take sides. Taiwan may get a chance to invade ;).
problems that we see in China are worse than people perceive. I don’t think Xi Jinping has solutions to them or I should say more precisely, his solutions are making problems worse

...sounds like someplace we live
I agree with you on abortion. I don’t support abortion at all. However, the context was under the presumption that we were going to war with China and upwards of 1.2 billion people would die from this war because it almost assuredly would have gone nuclear.
My comments are meant that we brought China down without going to war. That’s what I meant.
Time for a new covid emergency lockdown for his party’s protection. America will help!
“China is imploding but Gordon Chang has been predicting this for the last 20 years. Eventually he’ll be vindicated I guess.”
Like George Orwell, he called it too early.
I suspect that China needs a war to stimulate their economy.
I also suspect that the US and Europe needs a war to stimulate the economy.
I also suspect that many other nations are in the same scenario.
If so hang on!
If you think about it every major power on the planet has major issues that could bring their system down—with the capability to drag down the entire world with them.
The systems have gotten so complex and the government lying (by everybody) so intense that it is impossible to figure out when a collapse might happen for some or all players.
The few who know are not talking—and those who are talking do not know.
It seems outside directed aggression is the traditional way countries deal with economic trouble and internal strife. China might not have a history of venturing outside its own borders, but we live in interesting times.t
Used to listen to Gordon on the John Bachelor show (only because it followed Mark Levin on my commute home). he has been spouting the same theory for years.
Unfortunately from what we’ve seen the CCP is far more sophisticated than USSR/Putin and more circumspect than Hitler. Xi does not need to conquor the world in a year, as China measures timelines in decades and centuries. There is no political pressure as the chicoms have the ability to use tech to monitor and control the population in ways the nazis can only dream. Like Hitler the chicoms are running a genocidal campaign but not against concocted enemies but rather to eliminate regional dissent by wiping out Tibetans and Uyghers.
The question is whether the USA can sufficiently disengage from China and perhaps let the Chinese economy implode before Xi goes after his next prey (Taiwan). Xi figures he has carte blanche because everyone kisses his A** despite the atrocities (Tibet, Tianamen Square, Xinjiang, Hong Kong)
Without China, Amazon would have to subsist on CD and book sales.
Without China, Apple would have turn to consignment sales of older products.
In 1933, the US banking system failed.
“And many country’s people want their manufacturing brought back home. Trump certainly does, and if he wins?”
Free Traitors will put their ‘shoes’ to use again.
Big Business would like one factory in one country rather that one factory in each of 180 countries.
Gordon Chang has been posting that China is less than 18 months away from collapse for at least the last fifteen years.
“war to stimulate the economy”
I read that the Gazan economy is on fire.
If his book about China’s collapse was out in 2001. Guess we could let out our breath now.
When SF author Robert A. Heinlein wrote in the 1950s about the far future in which the US would land on the Moon he said “Hold on to your hats about how the United Nations will rule on the US mission and claims.”
Snarky editor Damon Knight in the reprint decades later put a note in the back of the book: “We can let go of our hats now.”
Actually some now say China the always greedy arrogant imperialist monster will try to make the Moon their colony.
Thanks for providing some plausible ways that the CCP can be overthrown. I should have considered that history is filled with empires, governments and nations that have been brought down.
