NTSB -- โ€œActive systems include mechanisms that make it more difficult, but not impossible, to increase the speed of a vehicle above the posted speed limit and those that electronically limit the speed of the vehicle to fully prevent drivers from exceeding the speed limit.โ€

So there you are, driving along at the fed-governed 65 mph and you need more speed in an emergency situation. You phone Big Brother:

"Hey, BB. Yo! I need more speed. I'm in an emergency jam and need your authorization to get my car up to 75 mph for a brief time. Can you please authorize?"

"This is the NTSB. Thank you for calling. Your call is very important to us. Due to heavier than anticipated call volume, we will be with you as soon as we can. Your estimated wait time is 3 days, 12 hours and 21 minutes. Press 1 if you want us to call you back, or, if you care to wait, please enjoy this lovely selection of rap music."

Just as long as the life of one native american child or transexual in a wheel chair can be saved, its all worth it.

I live on a rural paved street. 1 mile from US highway.

Speed limit is posted at 35. Lots of walkers-—and people on horses..

The more recent a resident you are I can tell by how much you are SPEEDING.

ONE guy in a Charger likes to go about 60-65.

I believe you are correct about exceeding the limit when passing. Guess we just wait until we get to one of those passing zones eh? LOL! And I’m sure you mean extra 10 rd mags right?

In the near future all ICE vehicles will be limited to 2.5 liter fuel tanks by the EV equity laws.

more definitive proof that there is nothing sacred to government. speeding is a rite of passage to the young driver. as it should be. where we live those who drives the posted speed limit are called road hazards. just a fact.

Congress could have put a stop to the NTSB’s rampant overreach years ago. They didn’t. All administrative rules developed by bureaucrats that have anything resembling the effect of law should be voted on by Congress. Fix this and the bureaucrats can scheme all they want.

Yeah, our street used to be a dead end. Now new housing and our 25mph uphill street becomes a race way. And its not just the kids.

Just TRY driving in Atlanta or Nashville. If you drive the posted limit, you will be killed.saw a video a few years back where all lanes in Atlanta were being blocked by an entire row of cars
Driving the posted speed limit.
Traffic was backed up for miles

Of course they do. Did anyone not see that coming as soon as they obtained the power to control your car in any way? OF COURSE it wasn’t just for cops in high speed chases or whatever other excuse they gave. OF COURSE they were going to abuse that power to control you to an ever greater degree. That’s what government does.

GPS systems are not perfect and controlling cars remotely, based on these systems, will end up killing people.
......

They don’t care.

A system that wants billions dead and pretends global warming will kill happily.

Imagine you getting on a freeway and traffic behind you is getting closer and closer as you try and try to speed up then WHAM!!

The resulting fires from all the electric cars burning (and you too) will melt the roadway.

“intelligent speed assistance” tech in all cars, a system that uses a car’s GPS location and local speed limit postings “to help ensure safe and legal speeds.”

How come they didn’t stop the flying Bently the other day at the rainbow bridge?

Yes, the technology is surely there. My car navigation displays speed limit in the screen, but I have noticed disparity quite often.
However, this may be very dangerous!
Sometimes, one needs to step up on the gas as much as possible, regardless of speed limits, to avoid collision.
If the vehicle does not let you do this, crash would be inevitable.
I would say, I would be dead four or five times already, with this “feature”!

They will not stop you from speeding. It will just cut you a ticket when you doo. The only question is: one ticket per trip, or one per each crossing into speeding territory?

Probably allow a ticket or two before the technology disables the car. Doesn't matter that you're speeding to get someone with a medical issue to the hospital.

Seriously. This is why I drive a 1957 Bel Air and a 1967 Camaro. I could see this coming.

I got to call you on that one! It might be a reason but the main reason is that those cars are far cooler than modern cars.

How come they didnโ€™t stop the flying Bently the other day at the rainbow bridge?

Because Big Brother WAS controlling the gas pedal?

Our new overlords don’t care. Highway deaths mean population reduction. It’s all for the good of Mother Gaia.

“...a campaign to “educate the public” about its “benefits.”

That is a direct lie. There are a number of very dramatic things wrong with this:

It does not educate anyone by taking something they can legally have now away like their own judgement

It does not place a minimum standard of speed to a car in traffic

It does not allow the state involved to determine their safety standards or limits

If it goes further, and the car is going to be controlled by a source not driving the car, if it reduces speed what are the results around the car with a fast reduction

If it is to reduce use of gas to back the reduction in the availability due to government restriction, does it not open the door to further efforts to get the public out of fossile fuel vehicles by limitation which by current inventories compared is not what the public wants

There’s more, but these are the immediate I saw.
