DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Attackers seized a tanker linked to Israel off the coast of Aden, Yemen, on Sunday, authorities said. While no group immediately claimed responsibility, it comes as at least two other maritime attacks in recent days have been linked to the Israel-Hamas war.

Not seeing much about this is the MSM, other than a tidbit here and there, but wouldn't be surprised if this may be the next up, as far as the world "blowing up" headline stories.

According to web searches:

Phosphoric acid is used in the manufacture of superphosphate fertilisers, livestock feeds, phosphate salts, polyphosphates, soaps, waxes, polishes and detergents.

I suspect this whole shipload of this substance is intended for an "off-label" use.

You might be wondering why the crews of ships are not armed. Until the UN put a stop to it, ships traveled with arms and an armory. If the captain thought his ship was about to be boarded, he’d unlock the arms and hand them out and any boarders would either think better of it or be fed to the sharks. But dictators the world over thought that ships carrying arms would lead to the crews selling or having the arms stolen by revolutionaries and got the US to ban such arms. No ship with arms can sail into most, probably all ports. If such a restriction existed anywhere the ship was likely to travel it couldn’t put into port. What do you do with a locker full of arms when you approach a port where they are banned? Thus, if you want to protect your ship from pirates you need to board armed guards where you think the danger starts and then off-board them before you arrive. As time went on, the places you could potentially be boarded got more and more. The practice of hiring guards, getting them on and off as required got expensive and is, let’s face it, impractical. The only practical answer is the way everyone did it prior to the end of WWII, which is the captain had an arms locker and a key. This can’t happen as long as a single liberal still tries to control others who he (she/them/they) never met and will never meet.

Did you know the “Let’s Go Brandon! FHB administration has begun importing Yemenites to America to work as recruiters for the American military?

Excellent!

When we run out of arms/ammo, after giving it all away to Afghanistan/Ukraine/Middle-east, we’ll at least have domestically the Yemenites to replenish our own supplies from ships and tankers off the US coast.

Gun Free Zone

The Ports of the world require ships to be unarmed and vulnerable.

Perhaps if they all just anchored offshore for a week in protest, this idiocy would stop.

What was the stuff that made such a huge explosion on the Beirut harbor a year or so ago?

These aren't Somalian skinnies in motorboats grabbing these ships, they're trained Yemeni special forces arriving in helicopters. Civilians with light arms are not going to deter them.

A single bullet in a helicopter engine will cause someone a bad day. When I think light arms, I’m thinking P90. In my opinion, ships should be armed with the equivalent of deck guns or shoulder launched rockets. You’d see the number of ships seized drop immediately.

Of course, there needs to be someone on board who knows how to use those arms. There are plenty of former soldiers who would like the extra pay. I knew a guy who was in his late fifties employed as one of the guards for civilian doctors in Afghanistan. He was lightly built but knew how to hose down anyone who came too close. He was fully booked every day he was there. He only quit when it became too dangerous for civilian NGO’s to send their doctors out to the outback.

“”they’re trained Yemeni special forces arriving in helicopters.””

There was an interesting segment on FOX yesterday with the Captain of the USS Cole... I wondered why the attack reported a week ago by the Yemenis on a ship THOUGHT to be Israeli wasn’t met with armed men aboard the ship. I always wondered the same thing about the USS Cole. This thread explains the missing information. If it was covered in the interview with the Captain of the USS Cole, I sure didn’t hear it.

Still need the US out of the UN - UN out of the US....I bet all those leeches have armed security...

I remember reading in John O’Neill’s book “The Man Who Warned America”, when the FBI was sent to investigate the USS Cole attack, they were not allowed to carry weapons in Yemen with the law laid down by the female US Ambassador at the time - whose name I’ve forgotten but she had no problem moving further up in her career...

John later was working for the FBI in NYC and was assigned to the World Trade Tower and died on 9/11/01...last seen directing others out of the building. If I recall correctly, it was his first day on that job.

Aluminum Nitrate. I'd forgotten about this.

There are no Bunker Hills in Yemen and the foreign crew of the civilian tanker are not Minutemen.

Any more silly comparisons?
