LBJ did not hesitate to deploy the military for the riots of the 1960’s, JFK sent the military to enforce integration, protect civil rights protesters.
And Ike deployed paratroopers to Little Rock to integrate the high school in 1957.
There are precedents.

JFK mobilized 31,000 troops during the University of Mississippi incident including 20,000 to occupy the campus.
That was the largest invasion of the South since reconstruction; later Disney’s invasion of Florida was larger.
