Warmest since the 1930s, maybe. But probably not.

2023 has been a warmer than usual year, due to the combined effects of the Tonga-Hunga volcano explosion and the gathering el Niño. Neither had anything to do with CO2 molecules in the atmosphere.

Pretty much every year for the has 20+ years has been the “hottest year on record”

The smallest resolvable increment in average global temperature measurement is generally considered to be 0.15 degrees C by the scientific community.

So for every year of “record temperature” the Earths average temperature would have to have increased at least 0.15C .

Given the number of publicized “hotest years on record” , the Earth's cumulative temperature increase would have to be on the order of 3+ degrees C or 5.5 degrees Farenhite

That means the high temperature in Phoenix Az in the summer should be routinely exceeding 120 degrees F if the reports are true. You can only lie for so long before the truth catches up with you.

All the, cough, record breaking temperatures this past summer were lies. I and others have posted on FR years ago how hot 1980 was. It was 115 in TX and I’d come home from work and sit in a wet towel in front of the fridge it was so hot. Strange, the Weather Channel must have misplaced the records from that summer. They also lost the 2011 records when it was so hot and dry towns ran out of water and had to have it hauled in by trains and even hired water witchers/dowsers.

Numbers don’t lie. It’s those reading the numbers who lie.

Remember the Tonga sea volcano eruption put 150 million tons of water vapor into the upper layers of the atmosphere.

Water vapor is THE most powerful greenhouse gas, orders of magnitude more than CO2.

In TX, this was the first summer there wasn’t a blast of heat hitting your face when the four leggers were let out of a morning. It was so cool, I was able to sit out to have coffee on the porch and do some outside chores until nearly noon. But, nooooo, it was somehow “record” breaking temps!!!!!

The question is...how many data points in 1850...and where were they?

Well, no. This year actually is.

And it is so much hotter over the past two years that it cannot *possibly* be related to the minute incremental human-induced CO2 release.

The blast of an extra 10% of water vapor into the stratosphere seems a good candidate for the cause for the reported 0.42 C increase in just this year over last.

Almost certain to be a lie, but even if it’s accurate, so what? Records go back 100 years maybe?

Records with sufficient coverage go back at most to 1979.

Exactly. And the increase has been an order of magnitude larger than is explainable by AGW theory.

I wonder if the UN realized that the planet has been warming for 20,000 years.

And when they are wrong nothing happens, but people still believe the lie.

I dunno... dipped my toes into Lake Superior and it was still too doggone cold to swim in. Will try again next year after another 12 months of this rapidly increasing glowbull warming...

Yes Yes, it is no longer global warming, it’s global “BOILING”
What a joke, sure to pass stringent measure that we will all comply to in tomorrows COP28 Climate Crisis meeting.
