Yes, it is, unfortunately. We were just there this weekend for the Grand Illumination (Colonial Christmas fireworks). I predicted anti-Israel protesters from W&M would try to disrupt it, and I was wrong, but it looks like someone ruined this next weekend.

Colonial Williamsburg is completely woke now, as others have noted. Years ago we used to go to the Under the Redcoat event, when reenactors would invade the city — SO cool — but the Libs stopped it because they couldn’t tolerate a “military invasion.”

I would still recommend you visit. Just ignore the tour guides.

I believe our infamous James Comey teaches at William & Mary. It was Republican territory but now its Dem.

One of my friends went there years ago...1980s...and asked why there were no blacks working in Colonial Williamsburg.

'pro' is more than just an opposite of 'con'.

Merriam Webster gives these two as the first definitions of 'progressive'; and these are the ways I've always used the word:

1: of, relating to, or characterized by progress

2: making use of or interested in new ideas, findings, or opportunities

The United States of America, when founded, was a very *progressive* political idea. What the 'progressives' of today are doing is destroying progress.

Well, I can strike colonial Williamsburg as anywhere I’d want to visit (or spend money). Their antisemitism and outright cowardice are utterly disgusting.

As you say progressives actually create the opposite of progress. It’s like calling yourself a virgin when you are a porn star and very similar to what happens when Progressives hold power .

What the 'progressives' of today are doing is destroying progress.

So true. "Progressives" want to OWN progress. What they see wasn't crafted by them ... they KNOW THEY can do it better (of course!), so destroy the old, and begin their enlightened reconstruction, under their control, OWNED by them.

I guess Williamsburg’s Jeffersonians heard that Alexander Hamilton was Jewish ...

I grew up in Junior High and High School in Hampton and many other parts of VA. I recall many visits to the Yorktown Battle
field. These punks in Williamsburg and all over America need to visit our Battlefields and think about what those dead men did to make America the land of the free and the home of the brave. None of these punks are doing zip.

“Is Williamsburg a progressive hell hole?”

That headline really gave me a start because at first, I thought of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, a heavily Jewish neighborhood, but I read further. Still a bad thing.

Ann Coulter cited either the heckler’s veto or the mob veto, can’t remember which, as she and Ben Shapiro had their campus speaking engagements cancelled. College students in a shouting, shrieking mob set fire to a police car, broke campus building windows and overturned trash dumpsters. Carried signs “No Room For Hate On Campus.” So ironically humorous.

But the college president said “For the safety of our students, which always comes first for us, we are canceling the speeches.

There is one problem. Observant Jews such as Chabad Lubavitchers and Orthodox Jews do not believe the formation of the State of Israel is the sign of the coming of the Messiah) (Moshiach). They think that is premature. They quietly accept others’ beliefs but they do not think as the Evangelicals and some Protestant groups that the gathering of Jews in Israel is a sign of Jesus due to arrive on earth.

So the lighting of a menorah in cities is not “siding with Israel” for the Chabad and other Jews. It is separately a performance of a Biblical mitzvah (one of 613 of them) similar to honoring the sabbath.

“WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — A Williamsburg nonprofit is under fire over what they say is a misunderstanding about a menorah lighting ceremony proposed for their upcoming festival.
Over the weekend, the United Jewish Community of the Virginia Peninsula (UJCVP) released a statement claiming the nonprofit LoveLight Placemaking made a decision to cancel a scheduled menorah lighting at the group’s music and arts festival this coming Sunday.

The statement reads in part, “The Jewish Community of the Virginia Peninsula is shocked and alarmed at LoveLight Placemaking’s decision to cancel a menorah lighting scheduled for the Second Sundays Art and Music Festival on Dec. 10 in Williamsburg – claiming it did not want to appear to choose sides in the Israel-Hamas conflict. To be clear, the menorah lighting, which was to be led by a local community rabbi, had nothing to do with Israel or the conflict.”

However, the founder of the nonprofit, Shirley Vermillion, released a statement to 13News Now in response to the criticism, claiming the menorah lighting wasn’t cancelled. She said it was never actually scheduled as part of the festival’s events. Vermillion’s statement reads in part, “The menorah lighting was never officially scheduled at our December festival. It was being discussed, but the Fire Marshall or City Manager’s office had never approved the addition of a menorah lighting.”

It should be pretty obvious that the Israeli Hamas thing is a religious war. By doing away with the Menorah Lighting Williamsburg is coming down on the side of the Islamists.
