Once upon a time many cities had electric street cars getting their electricity from wires. They could bring those back

Years ago, the politicians of Tallahassee gleefully reported to the world that they had purchased the first all-electric battery powered bus. Tallahassee was leading the world into an all-electric, clean, sustainable future...so take that all you big city laggards. They quietly retired it as it apparently never made even one trip on its assigned route.

When people complained that the city owned bus system was always running nearly empty of passengers, they purchased all new busses with graphics over the windows so people couldn’t see in. The ridership was so low it was proposed that they simply buy some vans, and the riders could call the vans and be picked up at home. They’d save a huge amount off the operations budget. The city turned down the opportunity to do this as there’s something magical about having an efficient public transit system even if few people use it. Even the local paper, “The Tallahassee Democrat,” mentioned that not one person on the city’s administration staff used the busses.

Chassis cracks a “cosmetic problem.” LOL! Steel and aluminum don’t just spontaneously crack. Engineering failure causes cracks and they just keep propagating until it releases all the stress, usually by folding up in the middle of the road.

Obama told us with great sincerity that Solyndra and a whole range of other now-bankrupt companies would be the "future." Yup. The future as Proterra joins the Solyndra dump. Let's revisit....
"House investigators said they have uncovered evidence that White House officials became personally involved in an Energy Department review of a hot-button $535 million loan guarantee to the now-failed California solar company Solyndra." More....

"How did this company, without maybe the best economic plan, all of a sudden get to the head of the line?" Upton told ABC News in an interview this week. "We want to know who made this decision ... and we're not going to stop until we get those answers."

White House officials have said in interviews that they did not intervene in the Solyndra deal or others benefiting companies backed by supporters of the president. Yet the administration, from Obama to the Department of Energy, has very publicly praised the loan guarantee.

In 2009, the Obama administration hailed the Solyndra loan as the first in a series of federal infusions for "green energy" firms that held the potential to clean up the environment and create jobs. But earlier this week, Solyndra abruptly closed its doors, announced it would file for bankruptcy and laid off more than 1,100 workers.

While Energy Department officials steadfastly vouched for Solyndra -- even after an earlier round of layoffs raised eyebrows -- other federal agencies and industry analysts for months questioned the viability of the company. Peter Lynch, a longtime solar industry analyst, told ABC News the company's fate should have been obvious from the start.

Investigators Probe White House Role in Massive Energy Loan ABC News, 2 September 2011

The scam and associated hoaxes is now over a decade old, continuing in a "rinse-and-repeat" manner by a corrupt government.

550 - and none will work within months. To make matters worse, even if you could get the “parts” to fix them, there is nobody to update the charging software as this article points out, but there are also no software updates to the battery management systems within the buses themselves.

What a massive waste of taxpayer money....

Let the class action lawsuits begin. Biden should be sued personally. If it’s ok for Trump, it’s ok for Biden.

“RTD ... recognizes that its partnership with Proterra pushed BEB [battery-electric bus] technology to the advanced stage that it is in today,” Talamantes said.”

where said “advanced stage” hasn’t moved the needle on big-battery technology one iota ...
