Vasquez is a hard-left radical who was elected after the NM Democratic party gerrymandered usually Pub-friendly NM-2 by carving out conservative areas like Hobbs in SE-NM and placing it in NW-NM alongside Santa Fe and the Navajo Indian reservation. Pub efforts to overturn the gerrymandering have been stymied as all avenues of appeal are controlled by Democrats with the latest losing at the NM Supreme Court last week.
