In medieval times, were there any coalitions trying to ban sword-smithing? Stop bows from being produced? Much less crossbows?

Interestingly enough, in 1139 Pope Innocent II tried to ban the crossbow because it gave an uncouth peasant an advantage against a noble knight in shining armor.

The crossbow ban didn’t work. Just like gun control doesn’t work.

So maybe these nuns should read up a little on Innocent II’s folly before mouthing off. And maybe take a look at the 2A as well.
