Right, I have said ... if you want illegals to serve in OUR military and promise them citizenship, benefits, etc. that is plum dumb!!

Just hire mercenaries. THEY are already trained, experienced and won’t want to hang around here for promises of citizenship or benefits when the job is done. AND they won’t stand around arguing over nail polish or the hair dryer, while their buddies get wiped out!

Just because they're foreign doesn't make them mercenaries. The US drafted non-citizen Green Card holders during the war in Vietnam.
