While Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower had studied his World War II enemy, he was unprepared for the Nazi brutality he witnessed at Ohrdruf concentration camp in April 1945. Bodies were piled like wood and living skeletons struggled to survive.

Even as the Allied Forces continued their fight, Eisenhower foresaw a day when the horrors of the Holocaust might be denied. He invited the media to document the scene. He compelled Germans living in the surrounding towns and any soldier not fighting at the front to witness the atrocities for themselves.

It always gets to me that they don’t say 12 million dead from extermination by the Nazis. I am not discounting the 6 million jews but the Roma, gays, handicapped, communists, anti nazi or alternative thinkers, and anyone else they did not like were sent to the camps.

BTW: my grandmother’s brother was a MP in WWII and a prison guard at Nuremberg and the Trials. No one in my family ever denied the Holocaust did not happen.

I read the other day that some Holocaust deniers/doubters are now saying that the Holocaust pictures are just CGI (computer generated images).

How sick is that? And no matter that these pictures are 78 years old.

But here’s the thing. Younger folks are very familiar with what CGI software can do. So maybe at least some of them will buy into this latest lie.

According to my dad, he had an uncle who was close to my grandmother and sent her letters from WW2. He was a doctor and when they liberated whatever concentration the US first liberated (not sure which we entered first) they urgently sent for medical personnel and he got pulled in. So he was one of the first there and saw the depravity first hand, and he wrote about it to my grandmother. My dad only wanted one thing when my grandmother passed, he wanted those letters. But my greedy cousin rushed to the house to clean it all out and keep everything to sell in her store and she claimed to have never seen such letters. My dad was certain she either kept them for herself to sell or ignorantly threw them out thinking she couldn’t get cash for them. Either way, he never forgave her -that relationship was ruined - and I suspect those historically important letters are gone for good.

Been to the Holocaust museum twice. First time was pre-covid and it was a nightmare as there were so many people, you couldn’t stand for a minute to appreciate the displays. Went the second time during covid when things were loosening up but they limited the number of reservations to the point you could stop and appreciate each display.

I took a leadership class as part of my Master’s degree and our professor showed us videos where normal people were easily influenced to punish people when instructed by an authority figure.

That is incorrect. The Jews were the largest FIRST group to be targeted. But the largest group to be targeted for extermination were the Poles

As per the Nazis nutcase theories, the Nutzis were to:

2. colonize the Slavs - Poles were to be exterminated, then Russians pushed to Siberia
   

and along with basic Biblical Christians, they are opposed by both nazis, gays, and communists.

The Nutzis targeted first based on RACE -- or their concept of RACE:

• They killed the Semitic Jews, but allied with the Semitic Arabs.
• They killed Slavic Poles and Ukrainians and Russians but allied with Slavic Slovaks and Croats.
• They called themselves "Aryans" (the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European peoples), but they killed Gypsies who WERE "Aryans" (as they originated in northern India around 1000 AD)

After race, they wanted to kill off Christianity as a whole - because Hitler saw Christianity as "The Jewish religion" and "the religion that had held down the ARyan people"

What religion did Hitler follow? - unlike his followers who ranged from occultists to Nordic paganists, Hitler's religion was a form of pantheism -

He hated Christianity and wrote that he would destroy it after he had taken care of the "race enemies" - so that would mean ALL forms of Christianity - Catholic, Lutheran etc. - Hitler created an "Aryan Christianity" which portrayed Jesus as an Aryan (yes, insane) which was a "Protestant" church, but I wouldn't even call them that, more like a mockery of Christianity.

I read once that in the last days of the war several top Generals...Ike,Bradley,Patton and one or two others...toured a recently liberated death camp. The story said that at one point Patton became physically ill because of what he saw.

It had to be pretty damn bad to make *Patton* start puking!

Agree 1000%. I recall having heard Simon Weisenthal...the famous Nazi hunter...once say that about 11 million people died in the death camps,about 6 million of whom were believed to have been Jews.

Eleven million is the important number...a *very* important number...more important than 6 million.
