Lines are arbitrary but what is the lesson? That aggression pays.
Will we put American troops on whatever border is decided upon, also other NATO countries, signalling to Putin that the next invasion means an actual war with the west, not merely a proxy war? If not, the lesson learned by Putin is if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.
Appeasement didn’t work with Iran. Unfreezing $6 billion resulted in Iran’s proxies in Gaza, Iraq, and Yemen going on the warpath, not only against Israel, but against us.
Appeasement didn’t work with Venezuela. Lifting sanctions on that country resulting in their massing troops on the border of Guyana.
I could, of course, go back in time, but the lesson is obvious: appeasement is taken as a sign of weakness, and results in more war.
It’s because of American weakness that the world is in flames, not because of American strength. Trump reduced the number of wars we were in, with peace through strength. Biden has jacked the number of wars we are in, with appeasement.
The lion will lie down with the lamb when we’re the lion.
“Will we put American troops on whatever border is decided upon, ...”
How about putting US troops on the US border ?
I read all these NeoCons on here, trying to drag the entire NATO into the Ukraine War, and talking about how aggression must always be opposed anywhere and everywhere.
Well how about the “aggression” of an invasion by millions on the US southern border ?
Historically, aggression usually pays.
“...appeasement is taken as a sign of weakness, and results in more war.”
It was ever thus.
America is crumbling from within. We'll never be strong unless we prioritize and fix our internal problems.
