Poland did a good job fighting off the Muslim immigrants, but they'll be pouring in now.

Poland has two main parties and several smaller, but still politically-meaningful parties.

The two main parties are like the two wings of the U.S. Republican Party. I realize that on this site there are MAGA Americans who dislike moderate Republicans even more than they dislike the leftists in the Democratic Party. And, there are Putinbots who are looking to sow discord in the west. But, having the country’s two major parties be to the right of the center of American politics is a good thing.

In Hungary, they brought home ethnic Hungarians who wanted to live in a traditional European state. Poland didn't exactly follow suit completely. The Poles under Tusk's old laws let in workers from Belarus and Ukraine, British homos teaching their kids, but didn't want to let ethnic Poles who fled communism come back with full citizenship easily. So, their electorate has gotten less traditionally Polish, Catholic and conservative. Kaczynski's government didn't change Tusk's citizenship laws, so they got what they got.

No, the EU didn’t appoint Tusk.

Tusk is charismatic — I dislike him, but there is no denying he is charismatic. Without him, his party (PO) would not have won so many votes.

His party came second with the % of votes, but in alignment with two other parties, they have 55% of the votes in parliament.

This is a parliamentary democracy, so people don’t elect the PM directly, rather, they vote for individual Members of Parliament. In Poland this is also compound by it having proportional representation, so NOT First past the post.

Not really. PO won slightly more votes than before, but the real winner was the “Trzecia Droga” - third way, led by an alleged “Christian reporter” who got 11% of the votes and a lot of it from PiS (previous government).

My district is comfortably PiS, but I voted for Konfederacja (what is called right wing) as PiS is also very corrupt and in an ideal world I would want Konfederacj as a check on PiS.

We can HOPE that Trzecia Droga puts a check on Tusk’s statements —> AS A MATTER OF FACT, Tusk already started to backtrack on his more radical statements, so I have hopes that he will be wishy-washy.

Not going to happen - Tusk has already gone back on this and other radical points of his agenda.

We are keeping the eastern border with barbed wire and we aren’t accepting ME refugees as we already have 2 million Ukrainian refugees.

Your characterizations are somewhat correct

PiS - Big government, socially conservative (actually more that it uses this cynically), patriotic (more in word than actions), financially left/socialist/welfare

PO - Mid-sized government, socially liberal (actually more that it uses this cynically), not patriotic, financially rightISH/socialist/welfare

Lewica - LEFT - ex-Communists. Socially highly liberal. And, well, communists

Trzecia Droga - Mid-sized gov, socially conservative-ISH, patriotic-ISH, finanicially socialist

Konfederacja - Small gov, socially conservative, patriotic, financially right.

Not going to happen

I hope you are right. Tusk's track record is not encouraging. He has always supported the pro-EU agenda. I think you've been duped.

LOL !

Tusk is the former EU Council President, but no it’s not Globohomo.

Come on !

I don’t care about what this guy’s current positions or promises are.

We have seen plenty of that from Repub fakers and fraudulent “conservatives” in Canada and the UK.

Forget what these guys say. Look at their donors and sponsors.

And Donald Tusk = Globohomo Swamp.

Honestly.....though it may be difficult in the short term, European countries would be wise to accept and integrate a lot of Ukrainian refugees. Here is a golden and probably one time opportunity to take in White Christian Europeans....people from a similar background who look the same, who can blend in and who do not hate the locals and their culture/Christian heritage. That would - at least in the short term - go a long way toward helping fix the demographic decline of many European countries.

Keep middle eastern muslims - ESPECIALLY military age males - OUT. Keep other non European 3rd worlders OUT.

I hate to say it, but the election in Poland October 2023 was not stolen.

PiS p*ssed off a lot of people and then Tusk was charismatic enough to get the idiot vote out.

The “win” was close, but was kind of expected. I hoped it would have been different, that PiS would squeeze through with Konfederacja, but that didn’t happen

I’ve not been duped — read my answer, I don’t see him doing it out of the “goodness of his heart” - as he doesn’t have any.

He HAS and WILL support a pro-EU agenda, but read - https://www.tygodnikpowszechny.pl/tusk-tez-straszy-imigrantami-184620

—> he himself used the fact that PiS let in Muslim immigrants as a “no no”

Even most leftists in Poland do not want Mohammedans. Maybe the Lewica supporters, but no one else.

2019 Poland elections

v/s 2023 Poland elections

Tusk's party -- KO (Koalicja Obywatelstwo) went up only by 3 percentage points, from 27% to 30%. Hardly a wave

PiS went DOWN from 44% to 35% (9% drop) and so too did Lewica drop from 12.6% to 8.61%

Konfederacja stayed more or less where they were

The big change was Trzecia Droga, as I wrote above but the real winner was the “Trzecia Droga” - third way, led by an alleged “Christian reporter” who got 11% of the votes and a lot of it from PiS (previous government). -- well, they didn't get 11%, they got 14% - completely unexpected.

Trzecia Droga has a very detailed plan -- Polska 2050

We have no discipline in matters of worldview and there will never be one; however, we do not agree to same-sex marriages, emphasized PSL leader Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz

Even Tusk's plan was only legalization of civil partnerships - to which he is already backtracking as he isn't sure of support from PSL for this.

And why are you calling Tusk a "conservative" - he isn't.
