Your grandfather was a wise man then.

Im not saying one has to become a baptist but a man should do whatever is necessary to keep cribbage out of the house.

Its not a game, its a means of starting pointless fights between people that would normally have nothing but the others best interest at heart.

Years ago cribbage was a part of the culture here. Any event where more than two adults were present seemed to turn into a cribbage tournament. In the history of mankind there has never been a game of cribbage concluded without at least some kind of names, cross words, and general strife and often there resulted in a great bit more.

The rest of those card games? Hardly ever more than a giggle. There is something about cribbage that draws the absolute utter asshole out of each player. Id bet you are less likely to get into a fight over a cash poker game with people in your neighborhood.

Ive seen a lot more of the type of creeping unexpected evil of “the devil” in cribbage pegs than Ive ever seen in other card games, dice, drinking, smoking, dancing, playing video games, listening to music, putting the wrong condiments on sausages, or any of the other ridiculous things that some people get hysterically whipped up about being “the devils bidding”.

Suggesting cribbage should recognized as the threat it is and the board should be preemptively placed vigorously and generously about the noggin of the one that offered to fight in the first place.

I’ve never played cribbage, nor even seen it played.

I know a few card games, Hearts, Spades, Gin Rummy, Tonk, etc I learned in the Marines, but never learned any others................

Cribbage breaks up friendships, but bridge breaks up marriages. Partners, right?

I have a feeling that money was involved and the counting was dubious. Counting cribbage is a skill that has to be learned but in today’s modern and complex society we now have cribbage counting apps that eliminate a lot of the vocal and physical fisticuffs.
