While the world’s attention is focused on the war in Gaza, Ukrainian officials are full steam ahead trying to convince their US and NATO partners to remain steadfast in bankrolling Kyiv’s war effort against Russia.
Unlike Zelensky’s shop, the Biden administration’s messaging on the war has been all over the place. On one day, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is beaming with confidence that Washington and its European allies will best Russian President Vladimir Putin “in a contest of wills.” Yet on others, a nervous Biden is taking to the White House podium to shame congressional Republicans into writing and passing another aid package.
Let there be no mistake: the situation right now isn’t promising for Ukraine. The military realities on the ground as well as the politics in the West could force Ukraine to alter its war strategy – if not by choice, then by necessity.
Notwithstanding Zelensky’s admonitions that the war is not at a stalemate, the facts tell a different story. The days when the Ukrainian army could rout unprepared Russian brigades like it did in Kharkiv in September 2022 are long gone, replaced by gruelling attritional fighting that moves the frontlines a few inconsequential miles in either direction. The Ukrainian army’s last major success occurred more than a year ago, when a combination of harassing Ukrainian artillery fire and difficult Russian supply lines forced Moscow to pull troops from Kherson city to more favorable positions.

Ukrainians are not known for the discernment and thus believed every word. Just like they believed a sincere Bill Clinton promise.
Only truth from Biden and his cronies can fix this, thus it will remain unfixed.
Honest has never been in his skill set
Honest means the Ukes won’t redirect money to BiteMe and the other politicians with their hands out. So that’s a non-starter.
“It may be more difficult to launder money”. See that wasn’t so difficult to be honest
We are the bad guys. In 2014 we helped overthrow their government. A year and a half ago, we squelched a peace deal that will likely be close to what they end up today. Add in placing bio-labs in their country.
The Bidens are a lot of things, but “honest” isn’t one of them.
What’s the over/under on how long will Z live if he decides he doesn’t like the brutal honesty of Pedo Joe and wants to rat him out about his dirty dealings in Ukeland
Biden must be brutally honest one would have a better chance of teaching a rock to high jump.
"We'll stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes."
"We'll stand with Ukraine for as long as we can."
"We'll stand with Ukraine for as long as we want."
Honest has never been in his skill set.
Correction: comatose *is* in his skill set.
Biden must be brutally honest: I now want 20%!
LOL!! He can’t be honest with Ukraine. First of all, Joe’s a serial liar, and secondly, they’ve got too much dirt on him and his family.
Today, the EU agreed to start accession talks for Ukraine (also Moldova and Georgia). Victor Orban did not stop it.
They also passed the 12th sanctions package against Russia.
The EU budget for 2024 includes 50 Billion euros for Ukraine, but that budget has not yet passed. Maybe tonight, or tomorrow.
The US Senate is remaining in session next week, delaying its planned recess, to negotiate a deal on Border Security and aid to the Ukraine ($61 Billion), Israel and Taiwan. Reportedly, there is broad agreement on the approach.
Before Christmas, Ukraine is on track to have more money for the war next year, than will Russia.
“The military realities on the ground as well as the politics in the West could force Ukraine to alter its war strategy”
Agreed. It’s well past time to stop playing by Ruzzian rules. It’s time to start bringing the war home to Ruzzia. There need to be many more attacks on soft targets within Ruzzia such as railroads, pipelines, electric plants, and more.
See how they like having their cities bombed and terrorized.
