SAN LUIS, Arizona (Reuters) - When Michele Pena ran as a Republican candidate for the Arizona state legislature in a heavily Hispanic and Democratic-leaning district on the Mexican border, few believed she could win.
Pena, the daughter of a Mexican immigrant, was a school volunteer and single mother with no political experience. She began with a campaign budget of just $1,600. She nonetheless scored an upset victory last year in the district, which is separated from Mexico by miles of border wall built under former President Donald Trump to keep out "bad hombres".
"Hispanics go hard Democrat there all the time. But they saw me as a regular person, and when we got talking, a lot of people told me things aren't going well," the 49-year-old said in an interview from her home city of Yuma.
The predominant concerns for many voters were high food and gas prices, job prospects and the quality of schools rather than issues around minority rights, she added.

I have hoped that Hispanic and Latino citizens would recognize President Trump's genuine interest in them and in all Americans.
Voter fraud will be very hard to overcome.

The big problem Republicans have with Hispanics is that they have yet to find anyone who speaks Hispanic. Same problem as trying to find people who speak Asian.

If you live in America and grew up in a household speaking English are you really even Hispanic ? A lot of these people have lived here for generations already.
Hispanics are trending Trump because they know he won’t deport the working folks who came.
What he will do is deport the criminal gangs that have naturally moved into Hispanic neighborhoods and are currently terrorizing Hispanic working folks.
At least that is what I think he will do, IMHO.
I would love to see everybody who entered America illegally sent back, but that’s not going to happen.
If the RINOs had stood up to the death culture and the abortionists back 40 and 50 years ago when it mattered, then we wouldn’t have 40 million foreigners living in the USA. It’s another example of the incredibly cowardly behavior and legacy of the RINO class republicans. They are the people who should be deported.
