ExxonMobil Is Working on a Breakthrough Technology to Capture This Potentially $4 Trillion Opportunity
Yahoo business ^ | December 19, 2923 | Matthew DiLallo

ExxonMobil (NYSE: XOM) believes carbon capture, utilization, and sequestration (CCUS) will play a vital role in helping reduce global emissions. The energy company sees this technology eventually becoming a massive global industry that will one day rival the size of the oil and gas market. It estimates the CCUS market could reach $4 trillion by 2050.

That's driving its investment in developing a CCUS platform. It's currently working on a potential breakthrough technology with FuelCell Energy (NASDAQ: FCEL) that could capture carbon emissions directly from industrial sites while also producing energy, which could lower costs and emissions. It's one of many steps ExxonMobil is taking to build out what could eventually be a very valuable lower-carbon energy business.

Produce energy from carbon capture? Will it work or is it one in the sky?

Better make sure The Big Guy gets his 10% of that, or it’ll never see the light of day.

I’d put this in the “perpetual motion” category.

Ah, a solution without a problem. Unfortunately, it won’t placate the fear mongers who will continue their hysterical rant regardless.

Note to sef: divest from Exxon-Mobile

Re-inventing a tree doesn’t seem like a profitable strategy to me.

I’ve thought if that too. They’re being driven by big woke investment organizations.

Sounds like ExxonMobil is saying their “gimmick” won’t violate the 1st and 2nd laws of Thermodynamics.

Sort of akin to building a perpetual motion machine. The energy input would be tremendous and WASTED.

Exxon CEO: This is a dumb idea. It will never work.
Exxon executive #1: The government will subsidize the project every step of the way.
Exxon executive #2: Plus, it will send our “green” rating through the roof.

Exxon CEO: Full speed ahead!

Just a way to extort more money from you, are they going to stop the ‘carbon cycle’ say the weathering of mountains and rocks around planet Earth, volcanoes and so forth? Liars and thieves working with really dumb people, proof that the edjumahkayshun system in the US has failed for a long time.

That’s the way it works.

Without all the subsidies in federal & state tax codes, these vehicles still face the same problems that electric cars faced in the 1920’s.

1) Pricing is high compared to ICE vehicles. (Model T was less than half the price of an electric roadster.)

2) Oil availability isn’t receding.

3) They’re marketed towards urban high income earners, in a decade that will see less capital invested in urban areas.

Food for thought.

Plants are optimally grown in an atmosphere with 800-1100 ppm CO2. The optimum varies across species.

We’re at roughly 400 ppm C02 atmospherically right now.

Sequester enough CO2 and plant (ie food) growth WILL suffer.

Smart people KNOW this.

Exxon executive #1: The government will subsidize the project every step of the way.

True that. But this project seems to take it to a new level. If I read it correctly, basically many companies will pay for Exxon to install the carbon capture equipment on their exhausts so that those companies can tell the government that they're earning greenie points (carbon credits). I wouldn't be surprised if the government pays Exxon for this both directly and indirectly (by forcing other companies to install Exxon products or pay some larger carbon fine).

The climate crisis has been over for some time, if it ever existed.

Growing trees is way cheaper than replacing fossil fuels with so-called renewables. Maybe as cheap as 25 cents per gallon. Certainly, not $3,000 per gallon that comes out of some models.

Plus, there is capture of CO2 at electrical generating plants and using the same to frack (instead of using water). This is nearly costless or even makes money where the electrical generating plants are located near existing fracking sites.

But, the climate alarmists are not really about saving the planet. Their agenda is the complete socialization of the global economy. The ludicrous pronouncements coming out of Dubia reveal that their underlying belief system isn’t science, but a neo-pagan religion.
