“Video recording is one thing..but in Chicago they have to fill out a PAPER field interview form, give one to person interviewed and the other be filed in the precent!!!”

And this drastic development was necessitated by the Chicago cops having their own “Black Site” where they held people without charge, beat confessions out of them, denied them access to lawyers, and very likely killed a few people as well.

Not to mention the innumerable violations of civil rights over the years that were denied by the cops even after video of the events surfaced.

So since they’ve proven themselves not to be trustworthy then this is where we are.

The other option, which I prefer, is to do away with modern politicized police departments, bring back the elected sheriff as the head law enforcement official for every county, and institute Constitutional carry and the inalienable right of self defense for the citizenry.

Make America a dangerous place for criminals again.

Mayor Eric Adams should simply not enforce the ordinance.

Prosecutors seem to be able to pick and choose which laws they enforce. They just do what they want and feel is right regardless.

I see no reason why the good mayor should be held to a higher standard. He should just ignore the law and do what he thinks is right.

It’s the way it is already; we don’t get to vote.

Your idea has merit. But the voters of Cook County would pick the Sheriff. And there’s no indication they’d do better at the than they did for Mayor.

IF a tourist asks a cop for directions-—Are you asking for that “ENCOUNTER” to be preserved in the records ???

“IF a tourist asks a cop for directions-—Are you asking for that “ENCOUNTER” to be preserved in the records ???”

Yes, because you never know when one of the psychopaths with a badge will escalate someone asking for directions into a brutal assault, beat down, and false arrest.

https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/local/wayne-county/2023/06/15/romulus-man-awarded-10m-after-alleged-assault-by-dearborn-police-officer/70325007007/

“A Wayne County jury ruled in favor of a 25-year-old Romulus man on Tuesday, awarding him $9.3 million after determining his constitutional rights were violated by a Dearborn police officer following his arrest in 2018.

The verdict is the largest in history against a Dearborn police officer, said Azzam Elder of Elder Brinkman Law, the plaintiff’s attorney. The lawsuit was filed in October 2020 and named the city of Dearborn, Dearborn Police Department and several police officers as defendants.

The jury’s decision after the seven-day trial came five years after Luther Gonzales-Hall, then 20, got lost while riding his bike home from a friend’s house and asked the officer for directions. He then went inside a White Castle and asked employees for directions to ensure he was given the correct guidance, as shown on the officer’s bodycam footage.”

How about if a cop is ordered to violate someone’s Constitutional rights?

The cop might be more inclined to obey an illegal order if he knows his body cam will record his refusal.

I guarantee you that’s why higher ups like them.

Body cams weed out the non-compliant.

Body cams are a two-edged sword.

Citizens need to be aware of that.
