Are those expensive for Russia to lose? Do they compare to the old Backfire bombers thr Soviets fielded?

Expensive? Probably not replaceable. Even if they could replace the engines and frame the electronics will have foreign components they can’t easily get. Yes they can get them by clandestine means but slowly and they’ll likely get a lot of fake IC’s.

No, they aren't so expensive. Roughly $38 million per unit. A little more if you opt for the Corinthian leather upholstery. Then there's the $3,000 factory rebate you get when ordering through a qualified dealership.

So, no: Not all that expensive.

Too bad about the dead pilots though.
