It’s where a SWAT team comes to your house by accident.

A call to police for a crime at a certain address, and when the police arrive, the location has no crime activity at all, and the owners tell police they did not place the call.
The idea is to embarrass the residents who the police called on.
It is disrupting to the residents, and a waste of police resources.

Someone calls the cops and says a violent event is taking place, hoping cops will go in hard and injure or kill the victims of the swatting.
Innocent people have died at the hands of police.

When the police are called with a hostage in place, or mass guns with the threat of major violence and/or multiple dead.
It’s also a hoax call.
