He left Chilean Civil Society intact. The Church, unions, social organizations, business, universities, sports organizations, boy scouts, etc. etc... were left to run independently free of government influence.

Yeah, apart from the thousands of Chileans tortured for disagreeing with their government. You must have a different definition "free of government influence" than I do.

We don't need a Pinochet figure. We just need to go back to a Constitutional form of limited government.

first of all, we are not talking about the United States

Secondly, Chile had already undergone a Marxist coup, with assistance by Cuba and the Soviet Union. Pinochet was reacting to that.
