Louisiana Supreme Court allows redo sheriff election after fraud discovered

The Louisiana Supreme Court is allowing a redo of the Caddo Parish sheriff's contest after illegal votes were discovered.

The court declined Thursday to hear an appeal of a lower court's decision that ordered a new election for the sheriff's race after 11 illegal votes were found, reported KTBS-TV, a local ABC affiliate.

Four of the justices decided against hearing the appeal, while two justices voted to hear the appeal and one justice recused himself.

The date for the new election has been set for March 23.

Democratic candidate Henry Whitehorn defeated GOP candidate John Nickelson by one point in the Nov. 18 election, leading to Nickelson requesting a recount.

Each candidate received three additional votes in the recount, still resulting in Whitehorn's one-vote victory.

Nickelson filed a lawsuit challenging the results and requesting a special election, claiming that illegal votes were cast, reported KTAL News, a local NBC affiliate.

According to a lower court's decision, two people voted twice, at least five absentee ballots were counted that shouldn't have been because they failed to comply with the law, and four invalid votes cast by unqualified voters were counted.

Whoever suggested that Democrats cheat should be charged with insurrection, locked up indefinitely with no trial, and any evidence of cheating burned.

When the guy on the right wins, he should arrest the guy on the left.

I hope the demonrat is thrown behind bars.

There is no speculation that the candidate did anything nefarious here.

I suspect the democrat is going to win the rematch as the registration breakdown shows it should have never been close to begin with.

I posted this before

As I noted before, this race should not have been even close.

Caddo Parish Population 237,848

Only 65% of the residents are registered to vote.

Party
Democratic 70,699 45.9%
Republican 43,167 28.0%
Other 40,124 26.1%
Total 153,960

The parish seat is Shreveport, LA with a population of 187,593 makes up 79% of the Parish so this race should never have been close.

I have read this three times as, “ Louisiana Supreme Court allows RODEO sheriff election after fraud discovered”

I guess I’m tired. Night all.

… at least. They only needed to proove ONE invalid vote. Made it easy. They have three categories of invalid votes, each with enough to get a new election.

This thread reminds me why the Jan6 process is vitally important. We need finality on important elections. And an important part of getting that honeat is to elect honest people to the lower federal, state, and local offices. If we have 51 honest Senators and 218 honest House members in Congress then the process will be honest.

They seemed to find the fraud quite easily.

Thank goodness the findings were accepted......unlike Trump’s valiant tries.

The Democrats would do this for a sheriff election, but not for a presidential election. Right.

“so this race should never have been close.”

Maybe the “others” are pretty conservative.
