Even 120 years ago my family from Italy went through Ellis, was trafficked to Chicago, then shipped again to Carbon County, Montana to mine coal and “do the jobs Americans won’t do.” It’s at this moment -19 degrees in Red Lodge and -38 wind chill and they all lived in boarding houses without heat and electricity as miners.
