Bossie roots run into strange places.
The players can see that the also-rans are going nowhere and “resistance is futile”. Trumpers are roaring and no candidate is making him sweat. Desantis is the closest but there is no excitement around his campaign, he looks like the typical “maybe next time” kind of guy and his campaign people have managed to hide what’s best about him while accentuating his problems with dumb slogans and “smart” remarks that come off like cheap shots. Trump is the Strong Horse, the rest look weak.

Maryland has gerrymandered its congressional district so outrageously that Andy Harris’s district winds through 11 of Maryland’s 23 counties. He is a Medical doctor, a 22 year Navy veteran, a father of five and an extremely good man. Gerrymandering has made him MD ‘s only Republican Congressman though the Democrat/Republican split is nowhere near that extreme.
You’re thinking of the part of Maryland that makes the most noise. There are lots of Conservatives and Trump fans in other parts.
My district looks like a splayed lizard with a couple of almost disconnected parts, on a map.
The constitution only says that congressional districts must be contiguous and have approximately the same population. Maryland calls continuous two regions that are connected only by a single road.
If you remember the late representative Cummins , his district was about 60% in government- dependent Baltimore city and 40% far out out in Baltimore county connected by a single road. The people out in the county who were far more conservative had virtually no representation in congress.
It’s nuts; but I was really surprised when I looked up the 2016 election and saw how many in my district (in PG Co.) actually did vote for Trump.
Maryland Republicans? Hen’s teeth? Frog hair?
Harris is my Congressman. Votes the right way.
