I dont understand it. He wants to join the party of his nemesis again.

Makes no sense

Sure it does; he hates Israel. Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) is running for the Democrat nomination. If he could sneak in as the antiIsrael Republican nominee he could sabotage both Slotkin and Trump in Michigan. He is a one issue candidate masquerading as a conservative. His goal is turn America away from supporting Israel.

“We are in a two party system, so aspiring politicians face a binary choice of which one to join.”

Maybe an aspiring politician has that limited choice, but not in this case.

The GOP field for Michigan Senate (Meijer, Rogers and a bunch of other hopeless losers) is woeful aside from perhaps James Craig, who I trust is not as clueless as he was in 2022 when he naively allowed Democrat operatives in disguise to deliberately gather invalid signatures for him, and was thus disqualified.

Craig is the best of a feeble lot, and he’d still be at least a 5 to 10-point underdog no matter what some outlier polls might falsely suggest at some point. He’s nothing but John James 2.0.

Even as bad as the GOP options are, I’ll wager dollars to donuts that the only way Amash jumps into this race is as an INDEPENDENT for the sole purpose of taking votes away from the Republican and making sure that the dangerous (as far as Amash is concerned) prospect of “President Trump” will not have a GOP-controlled Senate to work with should Trump somehow win, but instead a Rat-controlled Senate to persecute him again.

This race isn’t likely to be close enough to need an I to detract from the R, but Amash’s ego and bank account might still prod him to run anyway.

Amash was one of the most freedom-oriented, constitutionalist members of Congress.

He had one of the best voting records.

His voting record was principled, constitutional conservative. He’s popular with the more libertarian-oriented conservatives.

Think Rand Paul.

I believe Meijer was Amash’s successor and got ousted in a primary after one term.

He says he’s running as a Republican. Why do you think otherwise?

Because he was a Republican once, then he was an Independent, then he was a Libertarian and probably still is? That’s why.

Amash is a gadfly who doesn’t know what the hell he is or what he wants to be. Besides being “Senator” perhaps, and he’s isn’t going to get that.

He’s just a charlatan who misses the attention and the payday he got when he was a self-important congressman — especially the media adulation he received after he made clear how much of a “maverick” he was and how he hated President Trump enough to leave Trump’s party and even to leave Congress.

He’s the Left’s darling “principled conservative”, though he is actually neither of those things.

Now he sees a small opening and wants to capitalize. He can get back that media adulation by being the “anti-Republican” (and definitely anti-Trump) Republican in the race.

I’d rather take my chances with Craig. He might be able to get within the margin of vote fraud and at least make the Rats sweat just a little.

“I believe Meijer was Amash’s successor and got ousted in a primary after one term.”

That is correct.

At least Amash was once upon a time sort of conservative; Meijer was (and is) a smarmy little spoiled rich-boy liberal. He was ousted by conservative John Gibbs in the 2022 primary, after which the GOPe pulled the plug and conceded the election to the Democrat rather than support a conservative. Nobody was surprised when that happened, or at least they shouldn’t have been.

Now Meijer, like Amash, wants to be Senator. He’s got even less of a chance than Amash.

Check his voting record. One of the most pro-liberty members of Congress we’ve had recently. He knows exactly what he is and stands for.

....we need fewer lawyers and more business and working people in Congress.

We currently have 175 lawyers in Congress meaning 32.7% of Congress folks are lawyers who have been key players in destroying America.

A lawyer Congressman is to the corrupt US Congress what a tick is to a dog.
