“the number of female babies being born”

The other issue was that many of these baby girls are given up for adoption. Luckily, there are many western families that are very willing to adopt these girls and give them a much better life.

I personally know two families from my church that adopted girl babies from China. One was actually four at the time.

So, in addition to the girls babies that are aborted because the family wanted a boy to carry on the name there have been
millions that left China completely due to adoption.

Peter Zeihan has been preaching this about China for several years.

The declining birth rate means that people don’t see a good future for their children

Could it be that people have changed their focus from creating families to personal fulfillment?

The CCP recently admitted that their population has dropped from 1.5 billion to 1.4 billion.

Just a rounding error or 100 MILLION people. Equivalent to roughly 30% of the population of the USA.

I remember watching a documentary on PBS decades ago, about the one child policy. The government appointed women to go around in the villages and relentlessly nag women who were pregnant with a second child, to get abortions. Many women would relent, because the pressure was unremitting, invading every aspect of their lives, at home, at work, in the marketplace, socially, etc. And of course, there was the charge that they were being bad citizens if they didn’t submit, which was probably the biggest threat.

I’d say the CCP is getting bit by the “Law of Unintended Consequences”.

“China, even with half its population, will still be China.”

I don’t know about that. In some critical ways there’s a stark resemblance between China and Russia.

Russia the country is an amalgamation of distinct ethnicities, languages, and cultures that the dominant Muscovite-Russians are trying to suppress in the name of Russification.

China the country is an amalgamation of distinct ethnicities, languages, and cultures that the dominant Han Chinese are trying to suppress in the name of Sinicization.

Just as we see in Bashkortostan right now the grip of the Muscovite-Russians is fragile especially when the local people no longer fear the central authority and their minions.

China is likewise fragile. Perhaps more so because at least the various Russian peoples are somewhat united by a common history of outside conquest. This stabilizing aspect of the Russian nation is all but absent in China where their history and their sense of history was erased and obliterated in the 1960’s and 1970’s.

America is fragile, true. But so long as our common thread is our Constitution then we’re fine. Which means we’re not fine.

NO. Thinking China will be torn-apart by ethnic division is pure CIA/Western fantasy. China has problems and is a challenge to the USA, but to Realistically deal with China, its a fantasy to hitch your narrative-horse to that wagon.

China identifies as something like 95% Han. Go from North to south and ask people what they are, and they will tell you "Han Zu." Its a vast majority. If you minority folk in the SW Provinces or similar, they may identify as a recognized minority - but its akin to being an American Indian. They are fully Sinicized and part of the culture.

The absorption/suppression/integration of minorities in China occurred over many centuries, a very long time ago. China's racial unity is central to its view of itself and it's history.

Now the Chinese government nags them to have more children. Its what marxists and social-engineers do.

The best defense the USA has is to eliminate all marxists and social-engineers in this country. Instead, we resemble China more every day.

Han China likely won’t be torn apart. But selected ethnic groups and their regions could be torn off if they become untenable for China to rule or dominate.

I guarantee you that the Ukrainian resistance to Russia hasn’t gone unnoticed in China.

ALSO - NO. The best analogy for someone who doesn't know China is like saying the Pima Indians are going to tear away Phoenix and make Arizona impossible for the USA to control. Good luck on that.

In fact, the USA is far more subject to "racial-reckoning" than China is. Our domestic marxists promote a much broader racial and cultural (and even sexual) division in the USA beyond a few specific border areas. Their marxists actually promote the idea of one Chinese people.

I guarantee you that the Ukrainian resistance to Russia hasn’t gone unnoticed in China.

I don't even know what this means. Of course China is watching Ukraine closely for many reasons.

Unintended consequences from their one child policy?

I wonder what China will do to try to encourage marriage and family? Since they are a totalitarian government they can do things, such as restrictions on abortion and birth control.

They could grant various benefits to families with more than 1 or 2 children. And they can do things by decree because they are totalitarian.

The reality is, nobody knows China’s actual numbers on anything. Things could be better, things could be worse.

Anyone attempting to tell the truth ends up going on holiday.
