A man has been charged with murdering his Google Engineer wife after he was found 'staring blankly' into space with her dead body nearby.
Police arrested Liren Chen, 27, who also works for Google, on January 16 at a home on Valley Way, Santa Clara.
He has been charged with murder but his arraignment was postponed after he was hospitalized.
Chen was found 'spattered with blood' with an 'extremely swollen and purple arm' kneeling outside a bedroom where his wife was 'deceased on the floor'.
His wife, thought to be Xuanyi Yu, had 'severe blunt force injuries to her head', according to Santa Clara District Attorney.
Santa Clara police officers went to the house around 11am on January 16, after receiving a welfare call.
When they arrived, a friend of Chen told officers he was 'concerned' about the couple and said Chen was 'refusing to answer his phone or his door'.
He told officers he could see Chen inside the home where he was 'motionless on his knees, had his hands in the air and was staring blankly'.
The officers went into the house and arrested Chen.
The district attorney's office said they found his wife's body in the bedroom 'directly behind' where Chen had been standing.
'Officers located the victim deceased on the floor. She had severe blunt force injuries to her head,' they said.
'Chen’s right hand was extremely swollen and purple. He had blood on his clothing, legs, arms, and hands and scratches on his arm.'
Chen and Yu bought a home at 714 Valley Way in April last year for $2.05 million, according to property records.
District Attorney Jeff Rosen said 911 calls for domestic violence have risen.

In 2010, we sold our 2,800 sq. ft. track house in Simi Valley for $650K. Came to TN and bought a 5,000 sq. ft. house on 2.5 acres on a river for $350K. (Per Zillow, that CA house now has a figure of over $1 Million.)
Except for the weather, CA has no positive qualities that I can think of.

Is it just my imagination or is crimes involving Google engineers something that is not uncommon? I seem to recall reading several stories of horrible crimes committed with the description of the perp being either a current or former employee of Google.

I’ve heard the same. When we “older” folks speak of legalizing MJ, we think of the pot we smoked as teens. Apparently, today’s product is nothing like the Redbud or Panama Gold of yesteryear. I wouldn’t touch it today.

The staff writer just HAD to note the home was worth $2 million dollars. Shows that $2 million in Santa Clara is about $300,000 nearly anywhere else.

It’s a lie that mary jane isn’t a gateway drug, it is. It’s a gateway drug to other drugs, to mental illness such as marijuana induced schizophrenia. Marijuana sucks away a person’s motivation, clouds their judgment. Very destructive.
