the most demoralizing thing is to read Solomon’s dedication of the Temple, then realize how he allowed his foreign wives to introduce idolatry into Israel.
And this is the wisest man who ever lived.
Doesn’t give much hope for the rest of us.
The lesson of Solomon is that even the righteous can fall. Just because you have great faith, doesn't mean you'll end that way.
Some Protestants believe in the "Once saved, always saved" doctrine.
But the Catholic Church teaches that salvation can be attained, then lost, then regained, then lost again, etc. Which is why many Catholic prayers ask for "persistence," and the hope that you are saved at the time of your death.
Some people's faith are like seeds that fall on thin soil or among brambles. They grow for a while, but then whither and die. Once saved does not mean always saved.
Solman was very wise in EARTHLY wisdom, and deficient in GODLY wisdom.
