I remember doing the duck and cover in the hallway in case the Russians were dropping an A-Bomb nearby when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade. Sounds like some drills never stop, just get updated.
Most drilling does stop. Case in point - Fang Fang had to flee back to China, so the drilling stopped.
