A Houthi missile shot and ignited an oil tanker in the Gulf of Aden, forcing a crew on the commercial ship into life boats. The attack appears to have caused the most serious damage to any of the ships hit by Houthi missiles since the Israel-Hamas war started.

Not a lot of reports yet — many must be out enjoying their Friday night...
Let’s hope it was a Russian tanker. The Russians are often inept. But they do not suffer fools gladly (so to speak).
It’s a good thing that foreign oil burning doesn’t pollute like American oil burning.
If it was American oil there would be thousands of protesting Greenies gluing themselves to city streets all over America.
Send that retard Greta to protest
Noted - I saw the “Russian naptha” stated somewhere else too...
Back in the day, when I was young and virile, when I boarded vessels, I'd ask the Coasties if they were going to test the life boats, which didn't happen that often.
Eventually I was told "ETS, you're a ball to board ships with, but we'd all lose our commission if we let you ride that life boat like a sled... I'm not even sure you'd come back"
"How'd we explain having to rescue you out of the Delaware river ten mikes from where the vessel was at anchorage?"
And thus died my dream.
That looks like an environmental issue, as in “target rich environment”.
I’ve seen ‘em, but have never seen then them operated!
Biden just blocked new construction of LNG ports, because for the Germans to burn German lignite is so much less polluting than for Germans to burn US LNG. (Especially given that the US LNG will be flared off at the well head if we don’t have anyplace to ship it,)
I imagine the “What’s Up With Shipping?” guy will do a good report somewhere along the line.
In this case it will be:
“What’s Up With Shipping?”
“Several million gallons of Russian naptha”.
I’ve never ignited naptha. Does it burn something like kerosene?
We’ve been successfully invaded along the Gulf of Mexico, not the Gulf of Aden. The latter has no impact on our citizens’ fate. Focus on the real war and the real enemy.
Perhaps, when we slip the surly bonds of This Mortal Coil, that's what will soar us into heaven.
That makes sense to me, yeah, I like that.
naptha is also known as white gasoline, or what the coleman type stoves and lamps use
That’s gonna cost someone a lot of money if it all burns off.
I don’t know how it will react if it spills into the ocean, though.
It looks like it retails for about $500 per 55 gallon drum
OMG, you have NO idea how the economy really works (or can be crashed by actors far away) in this century, do you?
But FWIW: I fully support shutting down all illegal immigration and tossing the illegals here, out. More security is needed; less "attraction" luring illegals here is needed even more, or we'll have our entire Army on the US-Mexico border trying to keep illegals (and drugs) from getting through.
Well, I do know there is “heavy naptha” and “light naptha”, and just now learned that in some countries naptha can even refer to diesel or gasoline!
I’ve seen a gasoline tank truck go up in flames (series of impressive explosions) — if this was light grade naptha close to gasoline I don’t think I’d want to be anywhere near that tanker...
I think they make a distinction between naptha, fuel oil and diesel, vs crude.
I’m going off of what I’ve seen as far as reports on oil production and how they refer to it, but it could be the russian stuff refers to heavier grades.
