Yes, where he posts from is irrelevant. The glimmer on the state of AI in warfare OTOH...

One thing I think he missed though was regarding the "64 vehicle types". I think what the Ukies are saying is that the autonomous drone can identify any of 64 different Russian vehicles or platforms as either "heavy tank", "missile launcher", "light armored vehicle", etc... Then you deliver an appropriate munition.

Not that this tech is altogether new. ~40 years ago a close friend of mine was working for TI, and we already had anti-ship missiles that could recognize an enemy ship type or class and adjust the attack vector for best results, without operator input.

If you have a comment to substantively contest the info. presented about AI drones, make it.

Well, a piece of me still wishes it was not necessary, but the realist in me wins out. :-(

Iran might be worried that a little down the line, Hamas or Hezbollah might get a little, uh, independent?

That said, the Houthis appear to be armed in some depth. That’s not surprising given that the Saudis + UAE couldn’t knock them out, and Iran has had a lot more money to play with recently...

--- "If you have a comment to substantively contest the info. presented about AI drones, make it."

Happy to oblige, since YouTube is not the be-all-end-all of news.

"Ships without crews. Self-directed drone swarms. How a US Navy task force is using off-the-shelf robotics and artificial intelligence to prepare for the next age of conflict."

The AI-Powered, Totally Autonomous Future of War Is Here Wired, 25 July 2023

"The next phase of drone warfare is here. On Sep. 6, 2023, U.S. Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks touted the acceleration of the Pentagon’s Replicator initiative – an effort to dramatically scale up the United States’ use of artificial intelligence on the battlefield. She rightfully called it a “game-changing shift” in national security. Under Replicator, the U.S. military aims to field thousands of autonomous weapons systems across multiple domains in the next 18 to 24 months."

AI and the Future of Drone Warfare: Risks and Recommendations Just Security, 3 October 2023

"The United States isn’t the only country making new uses of autonomy. While the one-way attack drones that Houthi forces are firing at ships in the Red Sea are crude, earlier this month they launched what U.S. officials called a 'complex' attack of more than 20 drones at once. Iran reportedly has plans to build jet versions of its one-way attack drones, weapons that could show up anywhere from Ukraine to the Red Sea. That highlights the urgent need for cheaper interception technologies but it also validates the Pentagon’s five-month-old Replicator plan to increase production of cheap drones for attack, much as both sides have done in the Ukraine war and Iran has done to arm the Houthis.

The Pentagon is already testing tomorrow’s AI-powered swarm drones, ships Defense One, 22 January 2024

"The result of Ukraine and Russia’s extensive use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is a kind of warfare that makes traditional Nato doctrine “pretty much obsolete”, Molchanov said. First-person view kamikaze drones cost $400 (£315) each. They are bought from the online Chinese marketplace Alibaba, he said. “Nobody really knows how to advance right now. Everything gets smashed up by drones and artillery,” he said."

Navy to allow those without high school diploma or GED to enlist Navy Times, 26 January 2024

"The change follows another shift in policy this week when the service relaxed its tattoo rules, allowing potential recruits to enlist with tattoos on their hands and neck, which previously needed waivers. The Army has hit 40% of its recruiting goals this year, with the struggle to fill the ranks seemingly so grim the Defense Department reduced its planned total force size because prior recruiting goals were out of reach."

"SCMP says that the technological breakthrough will allow the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) to source superior-performance jet drone engines at less than a fifth of the international price. The report says that the Chinese Academy of Sciences released a presentation on the project on October 19. At the event, engineering thermal physicist Zhu Junqiang claimed the PLA has been quick to embrace the new engine, mainly because it consumes nearly a third less fuel than the current two-shaft engines in use and because maintenance costs will be significantly cheaper due to having 70% fewer mechanical components."

So as engineering in US universities now involves DIE ideology in some schools, and while the US military is dropping its standards amid missing recruitment rates, and while the US military is being "inclusive," other nations of the world are at the deadly and rapidly changing study of not only AU war drones, but INEXPENSIVE AI war drones.

"Thankfully" the Biden move into 'inclusivity' in our new "space force" is going along as planned. Not to mention four-star generals reading up to understand "white rage." Not to mention cosplay in uniform.

Nothing happens in a vacuum, and the world isn't partitioned into subjects with nice boundaries. The entire AI subject is, as a professor of computer science in Germany said, "not intelligent, but only very good programming." Behind the programming and drones is a whole range of societal issues in which US recruitment diminishes and dilutes, and, other nations' labor rates alone undercut US manufacturing. But the biggest issue about AI? Obama-Biden and the Democrats.

AI war drones are here. The development is rapid. Asymmetrical warfare is now a big issue, and asymmetrical R&D and labor and material costs are truly big issue. The largest frame which surrounds the entire "substance" of this is....
