Yes, they are confusing genocide and “collateral damage”.

During WWII, the people who knew and were concerned about the Holocaust were begging FDR to bomb Auschwitz (and other camps)!
They were denied, because “some Jews will get killed there” in case of bombing (obviously).

Yes, there would be some Jews killed there (collateral damage), but maybe hundreds of thousands or more would be saved!

Some people actually think that this was lame excuse by FDR, because he was antisemite and wanted those people to perish? I do not know, what really motivated FDR in this case, but it was not right.

Western Allies (USA, England, Canada, France, Dutch) bombing Auschwitz was not a mission that had a necessary probability of success.

Blaming FDR, does not obtain.

Stalin and Russian forces were much closer.
