As President Joe Biden’s border crisis continues, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is calling a measured proposed in the U.S. Senate “a complete disaster.”
The proposal is supposed to tighten current immigration and asylum laws, but also fast-tracks eligible asylum claims.
“The open borders policies it enshrines would destroy our country,” posted Paxton on X.
In addition to encouraging nearly 2 million illegal aliens annually to enter the country, paying out over $1 billion to the toxic NGOs that settle illegal immigrants all over the nation, empowering Mayorkas to abuse the asylum process on his arbitrary whim, and ending catch-and-release, this bill that gives Biden and Mayorkas everything they want does something far more sinister.
The measure would force all legal challenges to the border policy to happen in a “highly partisan” D.C. district court, warned Paxton.
“They know exactly what they are doing: Texas has been able to create major slowdowns to Biden’s open borders doctrine because our Constitutional system allows us to sue the federal government in fair venues,” added Paxton. “What Biden, Mayorkas, and the Senate uniparty in the swamp want to do is PREVENT the Texas AG and all other state AGs from acting as a check on the federal government’s tyrannical abuses of power. That is unthinkable. It is un-American. This bill is an unacceptable mess that no serious leader could even think about passing.”
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick agreed, posting, “This U.S. Senate bill is a joke. It would still allow up to 5,000 a day to enter our country. Any Republican Senator who votes for this bill should be voted out of office. They are selling out our party, my state of Texas, and this country.”
U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson has said the measure is “dead on arrival” if it reaches the U.S. House.
U.S. Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), who authored a stronger border security measure last year that is languishing in the Senate awaiting a vote, has called the proposed measure the “War, Debt, and Open Borders” bill as it borrows around $118 billion to fund foreign aid Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan while only giving $20 billion of that to border security projects.
“I’ve seen enough. This bill is even worse than we expected, and won’t come close to ending the border catastrophe the President has created. As the lead Democrat negotiator proclaimed: Under this legislation, ‘the border never closes.’” posted Johnson on X.
Even U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, a close ally of deal-driver Mitch McConnell, has expressed concern about the details. He told Breitbart and others, “Now that I have seen text, I have questions and serious concerns.”
Republicans, specifically Senator Lankford, fell on their sword to aid Democrat efforts to make the United States a one-party state.
This “compromise” legislation has to be the most idiotic, insane thing anyone on the Republican side has ever done.
I’m not young and this is the most remarkable act of political stupidity I have ever witnessed.
If senator John Corncob has doubts, then it must be bad.
