Because people can’t be trusted to judge for themselves if it is raining. They can’t be trusted to make up their own minds whether the weather is worse now than it was 30 years ago. They can’t be trusted to judge if higher energy prices should be made even higher so that China and India can continue to burn 12 times as much coal as the US does. They can’t decide for themselves if the climate of North Carolina is better than the climate of Buffalo NY. It doesn’t matter what the people think if they base their opinion on their own experience. They have to believe the climate industrial complex that makes trillions by deceiving them and punishing them and forcing them to suffer.
