Israel does not need the money. Its our military complex that wishes the money to be spent on their weapons.
In which case, Israel and any other recipient nation should pay cash or sign a loan agreement.
I think these things are money we “give” them to buy our military hardware. If we didn’t, they would just make their own or buy from France.

No, no they don’t. Stop deluding yourself.
Medicare for Old Voters is the same as Welfare for Poor Voter Registrations. SS is not your money, you have no legal claim on it. It’s just a tax like any other and can be doled out as Goobermint sees fit, just like welfare benefits.
Neither pays for what they get, and both have a debatable Social Good. Free Part A and $175 a month for Part B doesn’t pay for shiite, and free financial support for poor women and children are both huge drains on the Treasury.
Transfer Payments are the purpose for the modern Welfare State. That’s one big reason why you can’t have Open Borders.
An actual debate over the Social Good for these expenditures is what should happen. And then let he Voters decide.
But it always comes down to:
One side- “Gimme Mine, I deserve/paid for it and those “others” shouldn’t get it all for “free”!
The other - “We can put a man on the moon but we can’t give a hungry Mother amd her child some milk?”

Why would anyone listen to the Senate?
I don’t know. There is plenty of things that are not being done now. If you travel about the poorer parts of the country, there is plenty of trash in the streets. Even if you are required to put in a few hours, and even if you pick up only one gum wrapper, I would have a better feeling about the process.
