I suspect he has taken no position on Navalny’s specific situation because he knows damn well the guy was a CIA asset.
Oh but I think he very much did say something about Navalny’s death.
He compared it to the worst totalitarian corruption on Earth today…which so happens to be that of the United States.
Maybe as president he learned the truth about Navalny, and would rather not lie about it.

Besides no one outside of Russia knows cause of death. We heard that someone talked to someone who talked with a medic at the morgue who saw the body It had bruises and they were consistent with a stroke. That sounds strange to me. But I am not a mortician, nor doctor, nor medic and not Russian. All we know is that on February 14th he was alive and well.
