As it is, given the degree to which the ruling elites in countries like the U.K., Ireland, France, Belgium, and Germany are selling out their own citizens, opening the floodgates to a massive number of immigrants from Islamic countries and South Asia, the average citizen in those Western European countries might very well be better off in the Russia orbit.
In other words, what's there to "defend"?
Everyone is missing the point. The real twin terror threats to Europe (and America) are internal: secularist sodomism and fanatical islamism.
