Klamath Dams Down: Will Ranches Survive?
California Globe ^ | February 23, 2024 | Theodora Johnson

If 10 million cubic yards of sediment were to settle in the river, we’d see the equivalent of six lanes of freeway piled eight feet deep for nearly 100 miles. There are 192 river miles below the lowest dam, Iron Gate. In total, the river is approximately 250 miles long.

For most of February, turbidity levels in the Klamath River hovered around 500 to 1,000 units over a stretch of at least 100 miles, according to U.S. Geological Survey measurements.2 These turbidity levels are 10 to 20 times what juvenile salmon can survive, according to a 2001 research report by the University of Washington.3

Coho salmon (a “threatened” species under the Endangered Species Acts) juveniles will begin entering the Klamath in early March. Both coho and Chinook juveniles will continue to out- migrate to the ocean via the Klamath River until early June (timing varies depending on species and tributary).4 We can only hope water quality in the Klamath will have improved by then.

The State Willfully and Knowingly just PERMANENTLY KILLED off The Coho Salmon in direct violation of "The Endangered Species Act" and President Trump should have every last person involved Criminally Prosecuted and Thrown in Prison as well as SEIZING their Assets for this.

Klamath will eventually heal itself, just not in our lifetime. Grand Canyon didn’t happen in a hundred years.

I bet there is another aspect this. The 'authorities' were forced to back down in 2001-2002:

Klamath Basin farmers, communities reel at cutoff of irrigation water in favor of endangered fish

How much you want to bet some of those 'authorities' have had an axe to grind for all these years and wanted to teach a lesson?

My neighbors are devastated. My son is still there. It’s a hellscape and our property is now worthless.
This government has managed to destroy everything I worked my entire life for. My family has no future now.
It’s all been burned or flooded.
I’m in shock

California water managers announced they're sharply limiting deliveries to just 15 percent of what most urban and agricultural water agencies requested.

This comes after 20,000 cubic feet of water per second poured into the ocean because of inadequate storage.

No, the Grand Canyon happened in about a year’s time, but that’s the Creationist in me talking.

“How much you want to bet some of those ‘authorities’ have had an axe to grind for all these years and wanted to teach a lesson?”

This government!!??
Oh, don’t you know they are looking out for you!!??

I was in Klamath and Jarbidge in 2000, 2001, watching FBI writing down my license plates number. I told one,
“ It’s a Subaru not a tank!”

Anarchists from Portland were camped in a local park harrassing locals when my entire community of Phoenix Oregon was burned Sept 2020.
We found fliers telling us they were going to burn us out after it was too late.
Now the Biden regime wants me to pay back the fire relief funds of $25,000 that say was just a loan and the bill is now $33,000. They’ve been trying to get something on me for decades.... The Almeda fire is what they used because my record is squeeky clean.

All coincidence I am sure!!

I think I am the last one left from the Klamath Bucket Brigade. Amazing patriots showed up.
I can’t get anyone to show up these days.
We can’t even get mainstream news to report this taking in California. My family is there. We’ve lost everything I spent a lifetime building.

This isn't the story to make your case. In this story, idiots decided to relinquish control back to mother nature, and that's what caused the problems.

Yes, I know that.
Merely an Ancient Greek Mythological reference.
Medieval Christian thinkers did not see nature as inclusive of everything, but thought that it had been created by God; earth lay below the unchanging heavens and moon. Nature lay somewhere in the center, with agents above her (angels), and below her (demons and hell).

“...idiots decided to relinquish control back to mother nature, and that’s what caused the problems.”

That Humans once had control, and tinkered, was the problem. Yes, I agree. Back to my original quote.

Something I find perplexing is if you want to build something “The Carbon Footprint” is the holey grail. When dam removal is spoke of it is immune from that mighty standard.
