Is “Gun Owners of America” the next- best organization to join, or, wait for the NRA to reorganize?

Name 1 thing WLP ever did good for the NRA, except steal millions of dues and block all reform attempts, including the puppet he installed as EVP as he was going out the door.

The NRA backed every major gun control legislation ever passed; including the 1934 NFA & 1968 GCA. In fact, if it weren’t for the NRA, neither laws would have passed at all. They pushed them through.

imagine a DA running on the premise of “I’m going after BLM and won’t rest until they are in prison for their corruption”

The left wing media woudl be screaming about profiling, racism, etc etc etc- but to them it’s perfectly ok for a black da to intentionally go after Trump and friends because they hate them because they are white and republican-

New York. Why am I not surprised? More politicization of the judicial system. Why would anyone do business in New York?

People seem to have difficulty understanding that just because we oppose the deep state it does not mean that the conservative side is utterly blameless. There is a lot of corruption out there, as we have seen with the exposure of pedophiles like J6 organizer Ali Akbar.

“I didn’t follow the case. So why do I doubt the finding?”

I’ve not followed closely but I do recall maybe 5 years ago Oliver North was NRA president and sounded the alarm about corruption in the NRA and he got ousted.

So New York is now prosecuting for routine real estate transactions and lavish spending. But only if you’re an outspoken critic of leftism.

You said, “NRA’s at a do or die crossroad. Seems they are going to be at a new location, there needs to be a new business plan to go along with it. The past one has rolled over and sunk.”

Sometimes organizations outlive their natural lives and die.

A long, long time ago, I belonged to the NRA. I remember reading on the pages of Shotgun News statements asking people to vote for certain Board of Directors to change the focus of the NRA.

I also remember looking forward to getting the NRA monthly magazine, usually with a feature on how to take down or modify some military surplus rifle along with wonderful advertisements about all the surplus arms you could buy.

I remember feeling that the magazine became worthless to my interests and then they gave me a magazine, I enjoyed, American Hunter.

Don't get me wrong, the NRA, through its affiliate organizations, does a great job teaching firearm safety and hunter education. It also does a good job associated with marksmanship programs. Wayne La Pierre and many of the existing Board of Directors should go. It is great that Wayne has stepped down.

I would like to see the NRA reshape its mission to that of a lean low overhead organization that runs a museum, sponsors some shooting, safety, and education programs, and becomes a noted authority on firearms facts and safety. I would prefer that they leave the lobbying to smaller state and affiliate groups. I would prefer that those groups form coalitions to legally challenge legislation that violates our civil rights under the Bill of Rights.

I now belong to a number of NRA affiliate groups and some other advocacy groups. When I get an email from the NRA (they have never stopped asking for money, even though it has been decades since I was last a member), I do write to legislators and oppose certain anti-second-amendment legislation.

The NRA has burned its bridges with me. We have known for a long time the extravagant lifestyle of Wayne. Yes, part of his job was to serve as a lighting rod to attract the wrath of gun control advocates, but his job wasn't to fund his lifestyle with member dues money. I also don't trust the current Board of Directors.

“Wayne LaPierre ... misspent millions of dollars of the group’s money on pricey perks for themselves.”

Wayne LaPierre is a “them”?

Was is just him, or were others involved, too?

NRA’s job is to promote 2nd amendment rights period.
Not make it for Wayne and others to have a cush life.
Get it right or continue to lose members.

From the article:

“The New York jury found that Wayne LaPierre, who was the NRA’s CEO for three decades, misspent millions of dollars of the group’s money on pricey perks for themselves.”

I kept reading that sentence over trying to figure out who the “themselves” were. Are they calling one man “themselves”? I’m going to be forever getting used to that.
