Snowing outside right now, was kind of hoping it would stay higher up the mountain but already about 3 or 4 inches in the front yard.

Late season storms can be hard hitters.

The first week of March isn't "late season" for the Sierra.

March of ‘93 storm was a doozy. My wife and I lived in southern New Jersey. We are from SE Texas. Hell of of a storm. Like a hurricane with snow. Power was out, Delaware river froze over, airports and rail stopped. But we grew up in hurricane country so we were ok. Had oil lamps, battery powered radio, cooked on a cast iron wood stove and kept warm.
I had never seen so much snow. Moved to Alabama the next year. Enough of that.

Mother nature is tired of hearing about the California drought.

Still, it was a chance to give ChicagoConservative27 the kudos they deserve.

Someone should advise Gavin Grusome to say a few Hail Marys.

What is happening in CA is really WEIRD.

We’re bracing for at least a foot of snow, in the Foothills.

That means we’ll have snow on our caps until around June.

“Reports coming in of widespread snow, low temps, wind, ice etc...in winter. Experts and Meteorologists baffled.”

Some friends just went to Death Valley yesterday to see the spring bloom. It should be spectacular.

Are people still kayaking in the temporary lake?

I personally don’t care, just send 3-4 feet of that snow to us in the North Cascades, we’d really appreciate it.

What makes you think it is temporary? The Salton Sea has lasted more than a century.

The Salton Sea is located elsewhere. In fact, they found rich lithium deposits there recently.

The one in Death Valley where some are kayaking is the Badwater Basin:

It’s headed your way, started snowing last night about 20:00 last night, dogs woke me about 04:00 to go outside, about 3 or 4 inches on the ground.

11:47 still snowing but only about 5 inches of accumulation, I think it’s melting underneath almost as fast as it’s coming down.

I’m a 3200 feet in the middle of my orchard.

BUT THIS IS DEFINITELY HEADED YOUR WAY.

Mixed right now and melting quick. But, “they” say tonight is when we get it.

Blizzard conditions along I-80 temporarily trapped hundreds of vehicles overnight, California Highway Patrol officers told ABC News on Saturday. An estimated 200 to 300 vehicles — including a mix of passenger cars and big rigs — were stuck from approximately 5 p.m. PT Friday to 2:30 a.m. PT Saturday over Donner Summit, officers said. With the help of tow trucks, everyone was able to get out and no vehicles were abandoned, officers said. There were no injuries or medical emergencies reported.
