Three underwater data cables through the Red Sea are cut amid Houthi rebel attacks in the area

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — An incident in the Red Sea has cut three underwater sea cables providing internet and telecommunications around the world as the waterway remains a target of Yemen’s Houthi rebels, officials said Monday.

A statement by Hong Kong-based HGC Global Communications acknowledged the cuts but did not say what caused the lines to be severed. There has been concern about the cables being targeted in the Houthi campaign, which the rebels describe as an effort to pressure Israel to end its war on Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The Houthis have denied attacking the lines, however.

While global shipping already has been disrupted through the Red Sea, a crucial route for cargo and energy shipments from Asia and the Middle East to Europe, the sabotage of telecommunication lines could further escalate the monthslong crisis. Meanwhile, a suspected Houthi attack targeted a new ship in the Gulf of Aden.

The cut lines include Asia-Africa-Europe 1, the Europe India Gateway, Seacom and TGN-Gulf, HGC Global Communications said. It described the cuts as affecting 25% of the traffic flowing through the Red Sea. It described the Red Sea route as crucial for data moving from Asia onward to Europe and said it had begun rerouting traffic.

The Houthi slogan is ‘Death to America ‘ and ‘Death to Israel’. They are interfering with World trade at a critical navigation point. If the World had any sense it would declare war on these 7th century vermin and wipe them out to the last man.

They make their guided missiles in the backyard using charcoal fired forges.

For scuba — inflation goat bladders.

Maybe we should just drill our own oil and let them sort out their own neighborhood?

In a odd way Islam is why America was discovered. Europe wanted trade with China but it was blocked by Islamic nutjobs. An alternate path was pursued and it turns out two whole continents were in the way. The rest is history.

The Bab el Mandel strait has two channels, the western primary one being only 30 meters deep. Would not be hard to reach a cable on the bottom. UDT divers are able to operate below 100 feet. No reason some enthusiastic Houthi couldn’t train to do the same.

Maybe they rented a sailboat, same as the “Ukrainians” who supposedly destroyed Nordstream

The Rubymar dropped one anchor and then drifted several miles across the area where the cables lie. At some point before she sank, the anchor apparently did drag across the floor of the Red Sea. There is some speculation that that might be how the cables were cut.

The problem of our civilized world is that the Satanic entities should be annihilated completely, (Something Israel (and I) ) want to see happen.

At 76, I am now OFTEN reminded of the social discipline in Jr High (now Middle school) meted by primarily bad boys with attitudes, generally thought of as thugs but were in fact, protectors of our American culture.

I got MY ass kicked after hitting on a girl that was some other guys' girlfriend. I didn't know it, but a punch that laid me out with a "Stay away from my girl" was sufficient for me make a lot of realized decisions almost immediately.

A LOT of lessons were learned in all of our earlier school days in America and no one thought in terms of bullying . . . . it just what was.

Yes, that was not ‘bullying’ but typical male territorial behavior.

Bullying would be if he took your lunch money.................. 😁

At least you grew up in a time when she’d be some other GUY’S girlfriend. Nowadays it’s not that simple.

True that. And the Muslim pirates are the main reason Prez Washington push for and signed into law the 1794 Navy Act -- making the navy. And the first US Marine expedition was led by William Eaton against Muslim pirates in modern day Libya ("to the shores of Tripoli").

Yeah, and it was that male territorial behavior that gave us the winning warriors in our successful wars.

I enlisted in 1965, 17 an' FULL of John Wayne, Apple pie and Chevrolet, ready to protect America from Communism.

I became a radio teletype operator in Korea (they called it hardship duty but THIS young stud didn't think so), and discharged early out in November 67 . . . nothing but holding companies back in CONUS and I wouldn't re-up.

I cut my political teeth on Viet Nam and the social upheaval in America in '67-'74 or '75

The '60's were a turning point we really didn't see coming and once we DID see it, it was impossible to stop.

The war is now on our soil.
