He was a decent Governor, despite only having Republican control of the Senate. I worked in the State's Correctional Services, and retired while he was still Governor. He got the death penalty reinstated, but of course the courts eliminated it again, and he removed the college programs from the prisons. When I first started working in the job, an inmate could get a four-year degree from Syracuse University...for free. I don't know if the Dems ever re-instated those programs, but they've managed to steal enough elections in the State to have control of the Legislature by a 2-1 margin in both Houses.
He didn’t endorse Trump in 2016 and he was one of those who said, “Donald Trump will never be president.”
