The reason any third party hurts Biden—no matter who it is—is the mass media situation.
Third parties will be on all the talk shows and if they have money they can advertise on the mass media.
The audience who actually consumes this stuff is Democrats.
Potential Trump voters—even those on the fence—do not trust the mass media and do not use it.
Interestingly the Democratic political pros are well aware of this situation—that is why they are making life as miserable as they can for any third party.
Btw this is why Nikki Haley got no traction with $100 million and appearing on every TV talk show in the land over and over and over again...
The only people who heard her message was Democrats. That got her some Democratic or Democratic leaning Independents but Republicans and Republican leaning Independents were totally unaffected by her media blitz.
